1981 Stern Lightning
I have a stubborn slingshot that registers multiple hits (anywhere from 2-5 hits). I tried adjusting the switches but the gap had to be so large (to prevent fluttering) that it didn't register a hit during play. I have replaced the original switches with no luck; they still have to be gapped so far apart that they dont register hits in a game.
I have replaced the switch diode with no change. I have replaced the capacitor with no change. I have replaced the coil diode with no change. The coil is not open and works properly during the solenoid test. The ring kit I purchased had a 2 1/2" rubber, but the manual says 2 3/4"; could the smaller rubber be the problem?
The other 3 slingshots on the game work fine. In comparison, they all have similar mechanical wear to the problem slingshot. As the problem slingshot is activated, nothing is in the way of the moving parts. What am I missing?
