Planning on setting up a site to unload a lot of my spare arcade parts and manuals to make it easier for me to sell and ship etc.

Host must offer:

  • Apache or Windows IIS
  • PHP 5
  • MySQL
Planning on using open cart after reviewing several different e-commerce programs. Can anyone recommend a cheap host provider so that I can keep my costs down and thus my parts cheaper? I know I can google for the info but I am looking for people with actual experience with some of the different providers.

MODS: If this is the wrong spot for this, please move as necessary.

i have tried a bunch and i've been using www.virtualbinge.com now for years...and no, i don't run it...but, i use it and it works well...i've been sending people there when they need hosting and for the price you can't beat it...just select what you want and when you go to add it in to the cart you can customize the options....if you need any help let me know...be glad to help out.

I use Cybrhost for my eCommerce business but they are not cheap. On the upside, the service is solid and I can get a *knowledgeable* engineer on the phone 24x7 and they are skilled at supporting Miva Merchant.

On the other side, stay away from HostGator. I have a tiny vBulletin site with there are always DB problems, host out of memory, etc. If that site ever takes of, I'll move from hostgator in a flash....

Thanks for the responses. I will check them out over the next few days along with any other suggestions

http://www.citymax.com

They host my site, have all the bells/whistles... shopping cart, integration with PayPal Web Payments Pro, inventory management, USPS/UPS/FedEx shipping calculators (which I don't use), and more.

If you click on any of the citymax wording on the bottom of the pages on my site it's a referral... you have 3 referrals and your hosting is free as long as they are being hosted. :)

If you have time to swing by the house, I'd be happy to walk you through the innards of my site and how it's all set up.
