Slightly disassembled Pin-Bot - What would YOU pay?

J15 is a sound plug, not used on PinBot. Pinbot is System 11A and does not use this connector.

Well drat. Thought maybe I was onto something there. All the cables for the displays seem to be on tight but there's not even a hint of life in the top two numeric displays. Any thoughts on what to check next for those?

i am picking up a pin-bot friday

left side of cab needs re-stenciled, but is complete and boots, with a nice unworn pf and nice bg

i got it cheap!

a thread will come....

yes!!!!!

it gives "adjust failure".....to which i did the factory default reset, and whammo!

i need to restencil one side but im happy

Happy yours was so easy to get up and running. I still have quite a few things to go over on mine, after having rebuilt the PS. : (

Next up, going to FRY's to pick up a logic probe and some additional parts.

Check the voltage for the displays. The high voltage section on the PS board might need to be rebuilt.

When troubeshooting it's best to rule out the easiest things to test first. If you test your voltages to confirm that they're correct at least you'll know that the PS board isn't the cause. What if you find out the PS board is the cause after you've invested in a replacement CPU or paid to have someone look over the one you have?

Ok, I followed your advice and checked the PS out. The voltages are all spot on. So what would you do next in this situation?

Considering that you're trying to make sure you caught all of the broken traces damaged by the battery acid, I would check the schematic.

Ha ha, good luck! Once you get that going I might have to send you this PS board I can't seem to get right. I'm about to go to the schematics on that since replacing everything apparently doesn't do the trick. -__-

I wish there was a way to just test the displays to see if they work. I don't know anyone really local who has one that I can throw them into to try them out. I'd hate to spend a lot of time on the board only to find out the displays are outgassed to start with and the PCB is fine.

Did you read section 3m here: http://www.pinrepair.com/sys11/index3.htm about the PS board?

I would think that if the bottom two are nice and bright the others should be fine as well. If you hadn't previously mentioned the trace damage I would suggest checking the display pins and headers for cold solder joints.

Yep, read that whole section and replaced the HV section of the PS board, replaced all of the caps, bridge rectifier and even IC1. I checked the transistors as well. There's one more thing I plan on trying tonight.

Can't you just switch displays with the two that are working to test?

Different types of displays. The top are alpha numeric and the bottom are numeric only displays.

You may be better off selling your working displays to help fund a new pinscore set for the pinbot. Just another option.

on mine the top 2 are fine and one of the bottom displays are out

i verified this by switching sides, the player 3 display worked after swapping while player4 still is out
