A few months ago I picked up a fully working SlickShot (1990) off ebay for only $100. It's somewhat of a hybrid between a pool table and an arcade game. You use an actual pool stick to hit a small cue ball across basically a felt topped control panel. The ball disappears directly under the monitor where both it's speed and direction are registered by an IR sensor and the ball is shown on the monitor where you aimed it. It's a fairly fluid motion of once the physical ball disappears it then appears on screen hitting the other virtual balls. The game features 2 modes of play with straight up 8 ball and then of course an assortment of selectable trick shot situations. It's a big ugly wood grain cab where even tho it's of a normal width it's actually nearly as deep as 2 cabs. Tho it will never win a beauty contest, it's a nice not so standard game to the otherwise joystick/steering wheel/light gun usual collection.

Out of curiosity, where there any other oddball games like this produced? Where you hit an actual physical object and it registers on screen using motion sensors? Like a virtual foosball for example or maybe a vs. computer airhockey type half table/half arcade cab. I remember a soccer game where the ball was tethered and you would kick it and I believe it was shown on a monitor. And there was a boxing game like PunchOut! where you would put on an attached boxing glove (christ, imagine the shit living inside that thing on a busy day) and would hit a padded target that registered to hit the opponent onscreen. There's a Fist of Northstar game like this also I believe, only with 6 or so pads surrounding the monitor area. I've played one or 2 of the sword fighting games also where you swing a sword and would hack the ninjas onscreen. But that was sort of like a pre-Wii controller.

What else is out there like these misfit games?

I know there are a few other owners out there but here are a few pics of Slick Shot for those that haven't seen one:

Yeah, I passed on that game, becuase it was up in there on whether it worked or not. However, yours looks mint. Did you get it that way?

Yep, it was clean as can be and fully working with manual and keys and an extra ball. I did recently swap the 4' stick it came with for a 3' stick to make it easier for my kids to use. Plus to reduce the risk of accidental nutshots from behind when anyone was walking up behind the person playing it. I figured it would also prevent anyone from totally slamming the ball under there.

I had one of these as well... picked it up from an auction for $50... sold it to another member here, who in turn, sold it or traded it to somebody else.

OK game if you are into pool(billiards) but don't have the room for one.

I think it was made by Incredible Technologies if I remember correctly. Same people who make a lot of the newer arcade machines.

I believe there was a SS that was being passed around like a Davie St. Whore (Vancouver reference) down in the California area a year or 2 ago...
