i pick up this sky shark a few days ago and the guy said when your playing the game it will freeze up and you have to turn it off and turn it back on. any idea what it could be the power supply or the board issue ? wiring ?

all three that you mentioned. more likely the power supply or hte main board though

is there any way to check the power supply ? or could it be set wroung ?

You need a multimeter to check the power supply. They are pretty cheap and easy to use. The +5 volts DC can be adjusted on the power supply and yes it could just need to be adjusted.

well i check the power supply on there is +5v11A what i got for that on is 5.39v and i check the +12v2A what i got for that one was 15.30v

That is too high. The +5vdc should be around 5.1 vdc. THe 12vdc is unregulated so the 15v is not a problem. there should be a knob on the power supply that you can turn to drop the voltage level.

thanks for the info oryk zinyo i put at 5.1v and i will let it run and see what happen.

now after i change to 5.1v the game not booting up now :(

measure the +5 volts on the game board
the connector pins could be weak or corroded and not letting proper electron flow for game operation

had a game where had to turn the +5 volts up to +7 in order to get +5 the game board to work due to so much oxidation of the traces

just because you have 5.39 out of the power supply doesnt tell you what you need to be getting on the PCB

It sounds like you have a problem with your wiring. If you do as stated above and the power to the board is really low then I suggest fixing the wiring instead of continuing to turn up the power supply.

You can check the +5vdc power to the board at the edge connector on the side nearest the guide pin, or the cut out on the board. Use either of the first two pins as ground and the third and fourth pins should be carrying the +5vdc. For a temp fix you can do as stated above and turn up the power supply until you get 5.1vdc at this point.

splattergatz i did what you said and you were right the board was not getting much volt thanks again

power supply

Sounds like you have a power supply going out. It is trying to regulate itself but the caps in the switcher are going out of value and if you adjust it higher and then the caps suddenly bounce back the voltage will go up and if you adjusted to much the voltage might be to high and damage your board. Replace your power supply is my suggestion.

Usually when this happens boards seem to have your problems as the current is not enough even though the voltage seems to be right.
