I have the opportunity to pick up a non-working Sky Kid in a decent Nintendo cab for $50 (supposedly board issues as the monitor is working according to seller). I was just curious as to how hard it might be to convert it to a DK or DK jr. as I've been looking for one.

It may be super easy for some/most but as I've said before, I'm super new to this so let me know your thoughts.

Precisely, you're on to me :)

Might pick up the space invaders too just to have it... I'm in Rochester and will be down near Syracuse (Cortland area) tomorrow for my Grandma's 90th birthday (think she wants a skill crane? Then I can just take all 3...).

Hoping it all works out as I've been jonesing for a Nintendo cab and actually just painted my basement/arcade Donkey Kong blue.

For those prices you should buy all 3. That's usually what I do. Buy a couple games, fix up the ones I don't want for my collection and then sell to pay off the games I am keeping. I would say half of my games were free doing it this way.

The harness is vs so that would have to be changed, pretty much everything in the cabinet would have to be swapped, even the monitor orientation.

For the cost of all the parts you could probably buy a complete DK.

If you want a nice Vs cabinet then it is a great deal.

Well, I'm getting them Tuesday if they are still there, that's the soonest I can go. Some times you have to decide between baking your wife's birthday cake or picking up games :)

Good luck on these being decent if you do pick em up! :)

Thanks for the heads up, sounds like it'd be more work/money to get it to a DK than it's worth and cash/space is at a premium at the moment. The SI I could use for coin door and bezel but I'd rather leave it for someone that needs it more.

It's all you cwales, glad it's going to a fellow klover (I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's still around for ya).

At those prices I would have jumped on them instantly if they were closer... Sometimes you just can't wait.

I would have too, but I had family stuff going on then a full day of work. Sometimes you need to do real life instead of games. I knew they would most likely be gone but there wasn't a way for me to get away sooner. No biggie.
