Skill Stop Machines - are some more desirable than others?

I'm not a huge fan of skill stop slots (they are what they are.)

I seem to never see the same 2 skill stop machines - there appears to be a billion different themes, etc.

Are there some titles/themes that are more desirable than others? Is there a 'hot' list of skill stop machines or (dare say it) rare machines?

I got a pretty unique Mr. Do! skill stop I'm selling in Buffalo if you're interested.

Actually I have 3 skill stop slots set up in the basement...I added a couple of pins so the slots have to go

I know there are some titles out there that are most commonly sought after. One is called Spin Luck.

Check over on pachitalk. There are guys there that could answer that in a second.

spin luck is the most desirable due to the mini game with the wheel, with an auto stop mod its basically a regular slot machine

Not sure about the most popular ones, but recently we got one off a guy on CL. Its been alot of fun, other then its all in Japanese. LOL Even the voices, no idea what they are saying. What i did find was like you there seems to be a million titles and variations.
My wife sure enjoys it anyways, and keeps her outta the casino. LOL

I've had one, they get old real quick by anyone over the age of 7 or 8 in my experience. Once you buy one, there just is no resale value as the market place has been flooded with every theme imagineable. I was lucky to sell mine this past December (and it was Dukes of Hazard themed, plain jane ones you can't get rid of). If I ever get another slot it will be the real deal.

I have to agree with Greg, im bored of it, but the wife still loves it. ;) LOL
I got this for 100 bux, it sat on CL at 150 for a few months.

I think it's more up to what people enjoy. Some people find pachinko boring and others find it exciting and interest-holding. Same goes with pinball machines and video games; some find them boring as sin and others will chastise anyone who says so.

I already have one - have had it for years. I put the autostop kit in the machine as soon as I got it. I have the document that shows how to mod it for quarters but I never got around to it.

In terms of selling it - it was only $100 so if I do get rid of it I would use it as a 'bonus' piece for something else I might be trying to sell (game, etc.)

I was just curious what some of the more popular/rare themes were.

Both pachislo and pachinko machines are not only a blast to play but also very collectable for those of us who are involved in the hobby. I have some pretty hard to find pachinkos, and very nice pachislos. I'm a big fan of speed racer and have both the slot and the pachinko. I'm also a big fan of the Lupin the third series and some of those machines are very sought after. Guess it's like other hobbies, once you get involved in the rarity and desirability of certain machines, you get hooked. When it comes to pachinko everyone who comes to my house, all say the same thing." this is the dumbest thing I've ever seen" and three minuets into it they can't tear themselves away!

I have a Tekken pachislo with the auto stop and credit up board. I also have a Julie pachinko. It has a pinball theme with its own pinball playfield that you can control when you are in a fever. Both get good play when people are over.

I just feel like mentioning something about auto-stops. While they can bring more of an american slot vibe to it, it also takes away from some of the uniqueness of a skill stop. Yes, Japan has those "skill" buttons to get around the gambling laws but they can also help you Regular Bonus and Big Bonus. Believe it or not you can actually "eye shoot" the 3 bonus symbols in certain chance modes. Another thing is the "Jac-In". Most BB rounds will give you 3 Jac-Ins which pay out more, but the key is to space them out to get a max payout combining the jac-ins with regular spins. Usually to avoid the jac-ins you have to do a different stop order, which the auto-stop will prevent. Maybe I'm thinking way too into it for home use lol

There are quite a few that are very collectable. I have one called Magick Pulsar that has a transparent LCD over the reels. When it plays there are all sorts of graphics that are overlayed on top of the reels when they spin. Some of them are just for fun, some indicated different chance modes and some are actual mini games. The chance modes indicate the direction you need to press the buttons in order to increase your odds of winning. Auto-stop would completely destroy that feature.

I also have one called the Legend of Death Valley that has a mini-DMD display that does similar functions in terms of identifying the chance modes.

A lot of them are pretty vanilla and will get boring quickly, but if you search out the ones that have special gimmicks, that can be very desirable. Both of my pachi slots and all the pachinko machines get a lot of play during parties.

Parts

Does anyone have a good source on parts and/or instruction cards (English) for these? I have a couple that I would like to do a little restoration on.

You can try over at pachislodb.com and pachitalk.com. There's a LOT of people there who are knowledgeable with pachislos.
