Hey all. I've got a ROM marked as score 50 - meaning it is hard coded to start dispensing tickets and light the beacon once you get 50 points. I want to change this to some other number, such as 200.

I plan to dump my rom and try to find where that 50 point value is stored. It would likely make my job much easier if I had another rom image with a value other than 50. That would presumably enable me to just look for the differences in the rom images (assuming the rom versions are the same or at least close enough).

Of course, even better would be to find a rom image for "field programmable" high score setting - meaning use of the optional thumb wheel score setting cable. I've already populated the parts on the logic board to enable this but I found there must be a different rom version to enable this to work, as my prototype cable made no difference.

Can anyone provide a rom image for programmable score or a hard coded score other than 50???

Note that this is for a model H (deltronics board), not a model S (skeeball board), so if you have a rom with a label like "SP65" then it won't do me much good.

Thanks for the suggestion. Email sent so I'll see what they say. I'll post here if they help me out, but in the meantime if anyone has a different rom version and has the capability to read it with a burner, or if someone has a ready to go rom image, let me know!

Subscribed to this thread!

There is a possibility (a very, very small possibility) that one of my machines has a rom with a different point value. When I can get around to checking it, I'll let you know... Might brave the cold tonight since I'm thinking about it.

ETA: No dice. My rom wasn't labelled, but thanks to that, I installed all the missing switches and finally found out if it was functional (it is!). Winner song went off at 50 points. :(

Here's to hoping you find something you can work with!

Bump. Haven't heard back from Deltronic Labs yet. Anyone want to help the cause? :) It would greatly speed up this project because otherwise I won't have time to disassemble my rom and try to make sense of the code...

Although that will be a fun project at some point. Hmmm... what would be some good game mods to make at that point? Maybe a 2 player mode where you alternate balls? High score tracking and display (when in game over mode)? A special siren when you surpass the old high score?

I would too! Unfortunately I just haven't had the bandwidth for this yet. My best guess is I'll be restoring my machine in the fall/winter and I'll probably become motivated to work on it then. I would really like to program in some multi-player games. Of course altering the score threshold will be much easier so I'd probably do that first. Feel free to bump this in a few months as it might help motivate me. :)

I've got a Model S 4 player "kit" (plexi, CPU, and score display) that I swapped out in my Model H. It would drop 3 balls per turn per player. Wasn't a big fan of it, probably because the Model H sounds are WAY better than the Model S sounds. That, and only rolling 3 balls at a time really jacks up your momentum. I just reinstalled all my single player Model H parts back into the machine today (which is why I thought of this thread), much better now.

Don't worry, I'll bump this again down the road. :D

H is the small square board, with the cable coming off of it, right? Or is that E?

Pretty sure I already have what you're looking for dumped if so. Just have to find it.

I have a couple Model H ROM images, but I have no idea what the "winning" score is for them. I think they are the standard 150, but who knows...

Let's see if it'll let me attach them here:
