Skeeball display fix, and some weird problems I had *fixed
I had an S model machine with 3 dead display bulbs. I assumed the bulbs were blown or not seated. This was not the case. One of the wire legs on a single bulb were crossed shorting that socket out and it took out the ULN2003A transistor array (the one soldered into the board itself). You could see some very slight burning on the board. I ordered a pair of new transistor arrays for $1 each, and carefully used a solder sucker and soldering iron with a fine tip to replace the array and it works great. Just passing the tip along.
I also had another really weird problem with the same machine: The game would power on and play music but it would not start, had no coin function. The CPU has 3 small LED indicator lights and one of the led bulbs had been twisted just enough to cross the two wire legs...I twisted back the bad LED removing the short, the game played fine.
I also noticed that both of my machines had dip switches that did not necessarily match the manuals, and I had to move the 1st 1-6 to the right, leaving the bottom two (7,8) switched to left to disable the ticket dispenser and play correctly without an error. The machine was playing one single game on start up and then giving me a "CALL" error. After any dip swicth changes, you must restart the game to reset.
