I recently picked up a Skee Ball Lightning with the older style S controller board. I've read that some early runs of Lightning had that.

I have a few questions if anyone is able to chime in:
  1. Out of curiosity, how many of these early Lightning models were there?
  2. It is missing fuse 3, the large slow-blow on the board that goes into a cylinder. I cannot for the life of me find one that fits. Is there a part # or size?
  3. My display is dead, although the sounds and other lights work. I've read about the voltage sensitivity of the later boards, but there's no really even a PSU here, just some old school AC/DC conversion. So how important is the voltage sensitivity, or how likely might it explain the dead display?
Thanks!!

Thank you

So that fuse holder has 2 parts - the socket, and the holder you put a fuse in. I am missing the holder so I suppose I can order a new set and just use the holder. Inside goes standard size fuses?

I took out the display case and opened it up. I found the problem! Three of these...transistors looking things are disconnected. When I hold them in it turns on. Anyone know how they are connected? Glue? A drop of solder?

That is just ground. I would expect cold-solder joints on them if you can make connection by moving them. What solder/desolder tools do you have?

I have a consumer grade soldering iron for electronics. Just solder em down with a drop you think?

Yes. I had the exact same scenario and just used the new holder with the old base. Standard length 1 1/4" fuse

The proper repair for a cold solder joint is to suck out the old and add some new. If you do not have a desolder gun, some solder wick will work. You can get by if you just add some new solder to the joint.
