Greetings,
any of you Williams freaks out there know if there is a size difference between the silver coin door and the black coin door for Defender cabs?
I recently picked up a hammered cab but it has the black door and I'm considering restoring it to a stealth Defender multi-Williams. But I'd really like to have that silver door like on the Defender I used to play as a wee lad. Is it just a direct bolt in or no?

I have heard that the silver door (which was stolen from the pinball line) is slightly larger, but I have not actually measured them myself. I have a Defender with the black coin door and I have a silver door just waiting for some love, but I have never taken a tape measure to them.

If nobody comes through, let me know & I'll dig up the silver door and get some measurements for you.

i'm pretty sure there's a size difference.

my silver Defender is 9.5" x 12", the Moon Patrol cab with a black Coinco door (the same as the later Defenders, i think,) is 9" x 11.5". those are rough measurements of the actual doors taken from the front, not including the frame.

I have both and just measured them out. If you want to put in the silver door in place of the black door you might have a few problems. Here's the dimensions:

silver door outside dimensions(edge to edge which includes the shroud):
13.25x11 inches

black door
13.5x11.625

The silver door has 12 bolt holes(3 per side)
Here's the spacing:
12.75(across)x10.5(up and down)

The black door has 4 bolt holes(one in the center of each side)
Here's the spacing:
12.875(across)x11(up and down)

Hope this helps. It looks like the silver coin door would be sloppy in the opening normally used for the black one...

Thanks guys, that's exactly the info I was looking for. I think with a little effort and some minor wood work I should be able to make that work. Now on the hunt for a silver door.
Thanks again,
Greg
