Site Help? Anyone familiar with Solr Elasticsearch Tesseract etc?

We are looking to begin planning some significant upgrades to the site, and one area we want to start includes the search engine that allows people to search through the magazines and manuals (pdfs). We are using an old, modified version of Sphider currently for PDF searching. There are commercial packages that are a little more modern, like Zoom by Wrensoft, but by far the most popular packages used by medium and big-boy sites are based on Solr or Elasticsearch, unusually combined with command line OCR etc and then some javascript to deal with highlighting of a search term directly on an image selection to proving some true contextual ease of use.

If anyone has experience in this area (or knows someone that does), and has some time to help (either as a volunteered or as a paid consultant), please send me a PM.

Thanks, and Happy Holidays,

Greg
