Just got a Sinistar and everything seems good except for the joystick. Up and right are registering as down and left. If you tap the stick up or right just slightly it registers up and right. In test mode you can get the same results, a slight tap up or right registers but anything more and its the opposite direction.

Any suggestions on how to get this resolved?

Thanks.

Go into the diagnostics mode and advance to the switch test. That may give you more info.

On the 49-way joystick there is a 12 pin connector. Pin 10 is the key, 11 & 12 are ground (to give you reference). Pins 5 & 9 are the direction bit pins. Meter those. 0v is one direction and +5v is the other. The direction bit is generated by the 4011 chip. You might just have a cold solder joint or a bad 4011.

I updated the power supply to one from Bob Roberts and the joystick and everything work perfectly now.

Thanks everyone for the help.
