I was sitting here thinking about what I could do with the Joust cab I have sitting in the garage... it's already been JAMMAtized and painted black. I already have a Williams Multigame, but Sinistar is sideways and the game is damn near impossible with an 8-way stick... so I figured, Hey, I could make the Joust cab in to a Sinistar with a 49-way stick (that's what the original used, right?)...

I knew Sinistar used a slightly thinner cab, but that was OK...but I soon realized it used a thinner Robotron style cab, not Joust style... and I don't know if the Stencils will fit with the cut back under the control panel rather than dropping straight down like Robotron/Sinistar... plus, with such a difference in cab, it just might not look right.

Opinions?

Buy my Sini Frizzle man. You would then have your Sini, problem solved....

You would need a custom Control panel overlay, bezel, and marquee. I don't think it is worth it so you can play an impossibly hard game in the right orientation. just my 2cents

....and with the right stick... don't forget that!

:D

If you mean horizontal by sideways I just looked at mine and it's actually vertical. I think that's why it's a pain with the multi Williams board. It is very difficult but I'm as happy with it as my DK.

The game plays sideways in the multi as my monitor is set horizontally... a dedicated Sini would be vertical with a 49-way stick. It was just a passing thought. The cab will likely end up in someone elses hands.

Sorry, misunderstood. Having a few beers on a day off.

It could be done and may look all right, but I don't know if you would be happy with it in the long run. Like stated above, you would need a custom inkjet CPO, bezel and marquee. The stencil would work on the Joust cab, but again just wouldn't quite look right. I say either make it a Multi-Willams (which you stated earlier that it would be hard to make your investment back) or sell to someone else as-is to make in to a Multi-Williams.

Or you could be a crazy sob like me and return it to it's former glory as an original Joust and never dream of getting your money back out of it......

Does it have anything joust to it left? Had it been jammatized? If so might just be easier to spruce it up and throw a generic popular jamma board in and get it out the door

Well, it looks like someone is interested int the gutted cab... I have someone coming by to take a look at it. It's a kid (teenager it sounds like) so I won't be asking what he plans on doing with it. The less I know the better I think. Now, the flyback produces some lightning... the monitor is disconnected from power but I am considering cutting the power wires to make it a little more difficult for the guy to hook it up and possibly shock the hell out of himself. I will also be VERY CLEAR about the danger of the monitor in it's current condition... also, if it IS a kid...under 18...I'll pull the friggin' chassis and hand it to him separately explaining that it's dangerous. That's about all I could do, huh?

Sounds to me like he is looking for a project and is going to do a complete restore on this one right? :D

at least if you tell yourself that you might feel better
