Ok, I recently received a Sinistar which has a mechanical counter attached to the coin door, but I don't see where on the schematics on how it is hooked up.

Could someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

I don't think coin counters get their increment signal from the PCB. I think they are probably tied directly to the coin switch at the bottom of the coin mech. I'm just speculating here, since I have never cared to make a coin counter work for my personal games.

There were some operators that didn't trust the software counters. So they added counters attached to the coin switches. You can safely remove it. The original Williams coin doors as shipped did not have coin counters.

The other possibility is that it was converted to something else that used coin counters and sombody converted it back to Sinistar and didn't remove the counters.

Thank you all for the info.

I kind of assumed that there was no need for the mechanical counter with the one in the software, but never know. ;)

It was originally connected to the left coin switch, but that wasn't connected to the board, so coining up using that slot just counted quarters and didn't give any game play (expensive piggy bank I guess). Will just remove the counter.

Thanks again.
