My Sinistar was off for awhile. Now on boot up it says "All Systems Go" and then couple seconds later it goes to a screen that says "ADJUSTMENT FAILURE" and to shut off and turn back on to restore settings. I shut game off and boots to AF again.

Any thoughts. Easy fix or board work?

2 Things here..

1. Have you already replaced the batteries on the MPU board (3-AA batteries if original Williams battery holder)?
2. Have you re-booted (turned the game off and back on via the on/off switch) with the coin door open? The reason I ask is that you did not say if you had opened the coin door - we just assumed that you did - it does need to be open this one time. You should get a "Factory Settings Restored" message. Press the red service switch on the coin door after you get the "Factory Settings Restored" message and it will take you to the attract mode. You should be able to coin up the game and play it then.

With fresh batteries and the "Factory Settings Restored" message you should be good to go! If you continue to have problems and you are still using the original Williams battery holder - it could be damaged and in need of replacement. To replace, do the lithium battery modification instead of using the original holder.

If you have no battery problems and you've tested the battery voltage being present on the MPU board as good - then as the previous posters have stated - bad CMOS ic.
