Simpsons Dedicated Audio Out/Turtles Board No Audio Out?

I went to put a 4 player TMNT in a Simpsons Cab and the Turtles board doesn;t have an audio out jack. What do i do in this case?

You went to or you want to? You should still get mono out of the JAMMA edge connector.

how so? i want to get sound. the plan is to get a few 4 player konami games in one cab with a 6 in 1.

You might find another problem, Konami games of this era did not use a start button, so JAMMA games that need it will work but you will never be able to start a game.

ok so the sound issue. what do i have to mod on the cab so i could play the tmnt board with sound since the board doesn;t have the audio out connector?

as for the 6 in 1 plans, when i am ready to tackle that step i will post. it is in the cards thou.

Add the opposite gender connector that the Simpsons audio uses and solder the relevant pins across pins 10 and its solderside partner on the cab JAMMA connector. Then any game you connect to the cab harness will output audio on that connector - so connect that to the wire that used to go to the Simpsons board and it will work. Thats the neat way to do it, no need to replicate cable runs.

the audio out on simpsons has 4 wires that are all together on a connector. so your say splice into the wires add jump it into the jamma connector? this way if needed i could still use the audio out harness on simpsons?

ok, looked at what's going on, two wires from each speaker are going into the connector that taps into the audio out on the simpsons board. the jamma connector in the cab doesn't have a speaker or speaker ground feet in the connector it self. i am very GREEN to wiring so please be patient with me.

I'm a noob, So i'm giong to be watching your thread, as I am also building a 6 in 1 swithcer 4 game setup in a TMNT cab.

You are on the right track. What you have to do is get one set of wires from one of the speakers and into the JAMMA harness at the appropriate spots. You'll need to crimp on some pins to the wire to put it into the JAMMA harness and those pins readily available. However you tap into one of the sets of wires is up to you. You could just splice into the wires before they reach the connector for the Simpsons board. As womble said there are ways you can do it without having to really modify the Simpsons wiring.

so one wire to the speaker and one to the speaker ground? does radio shack have those pins? is there a name for the pins so i don;t sound liek an idiot?

Radio Shack will not have the pins you are looking for. The pins are Molex .156 split pins, available from Bob Roberts, Mouser, and I am sure many other sources. Maybe a collector local to you has some he can spare...

so does one wire from the speaker go to speaker and the other to speaker ground? which side the solder side or the compositie? how do i tie two speakers in for this to work?

so ferom what i gathe rand i just want someone to confirm. i take one wire from the speaker and put it on the compents side of the harness and the other on the solder side of the speaker hook ups on the jamma? i do this with both speakers so two wires to each side of the speaker input on the jamma harness?

Just a follow up update to this thread, as I have a Simpsons cabinet, and I wanted to play TMNT in my cab as well.

My harness for Simpsons did not even have any pins in the plastic JAMMA connector in the positions for mono audio (positions 10 and L). So I grabbed a little 4 pin connector that mated to the one from the Simpsons audio connector, and soldered some wires to it. On the other end, I crimped edge connector pins and slid them into the connector housing. Now when I want to play turtles, I unplug the simpsons audio connector, and plug it into my little pigtail connector that hangs off my JAMMA edge connector. Works great.

To get sound out of both speakers, I wired both negatives (middle two wires) to pin L (solder side) and both positives (outside two wires) to pin 10 (component side).

I'll grab a picture later to illustrate what I'm talking about.

I'm also considering adding some quick disconnects to the inputs for attack and jump so that they map to the correct buttons too. That way when I change boards I can simply flip a few connectors and the buttons will be correct for the TMNT board. (they are reversed for TMNT)
