simpsons arcade won't power on.

Monitor wont come on or nothing here power? If nothing gets power could be easy as a fuse or difficult as a power supply. More info please.

well, that depends. it could be caused for any variety of reasons.

is it the line fuse that's blown and preventing it from turning on? this could be caused by a faulty monitor or something else powered by AC being shorted or broken. simply replacing a line fuse won't make it work if something in the machine's going to make it blow again.

another common issue is that the game's power supply is no good. either the power supply is due to be replaced or it's triggering overcurrent protection when you power the game on (assuming the above line fuse issue is not happening) which in a lot of cases is caused by a cruddy +5 adjustment pot.

if you can get it cheap, go for it, it can always be fixed. be mindful though that if the monitor needs rebuilding or something, your costs will add up if you can't do the necessary repairs yourself.

Could be any number of things. For all you know, the person that has it now doesn't know there is a power switch on the top of the cabinet...

Lots of times, the "won't turn on" is something stupid, like a blown fuse, damaged power cord, AC interlock switch (which I don't think the Simpsons even has), or something. I once got a "won't turn on" Berzerk that just had a bad plug - someone had replaced the plug and didn't tighten the screws down and the wires popped out.

Even if it's a bad power supply, those are cheap. And every Simpsons I have ever seen has a WG 7000 monitor in it - flybacks and parts for those are cheap and readily available.

If the cabinet is in good shape and the board is there, then that's the most important thing.

I looked at a manual for that game and it looks like ther are 2 switchs that would cause this not to power up. One is on the top (normal on/off location) and another is some type of interlock. Some games will shut down if the back door is opened. There is usually a White switch that is pushed in when the door is closed and locked. This is where I got this info and it is on the last page.
Hope it is an easy fix.

He may have seen my last post, powered it up and wants more money. If it is something you want, just keep trying and be very nice about it.

i learned the hard way too

i will never "see" if a game powers up in front of a seller ever again
all i do now is look at all the defects and try and bargain seller down

get that thing on your truck as soon as possible if you really want it

I had a Konami 4P cab and it definately had the back door kill switch. It also has a number of fuses. 99% of the time its an easy fix when a game doesn't power on at all.

My house of the Dead cab I got for an amazing deal cause it wouldn't power on. Got it home and found the fuse in the AC Unit was blown.

Buy it if you can. Its a good cab and people on here can always help you get it fixed no matter what the problem is
