I have a pacman upright with a new switching power supply. Has a K7000 monitor with a regular 2 line power in connector. All my other cabs use the original power supplies that have the older monitors that need a transformer.

I am not seeing any ground wire connected to the frame or chassis? In reading multiple threads I am pretty sure there should be one...

Can someone please tell me, simply and specifically, where the ground wires should go? Chassis to frame...frame to ground?

Thanks as always!

All my monitors are Frame to ground. Not even sure how or where you could do a "chassis" to ground other than maybe a mounting screw.... But then your frame to ground anyways.... :)

Thanks Darren,

Im not in front of my cabs at the moment. Kind of mis-spoke... it seems like I have always noticed a short wire on the chassis that connects to the monitor frame somewhere...not sure why I even included that :)

Its late..im loopy...what I should have asked was... do i run the ground wire from the frame right to the field ground on the switching power supply? Or is it one of the grounds above? Like where the ground would be on a jamma harness connection.

I hope that makes sense... just kinda confused on where to properly ground...

you absolutely can't run a k7000 monitor on a switching power supply! it requires a isolation transformer!!!!

Good god...I must be wording things terribly tonight. I will try again...sorry for the lack of clarity.

Yes, I have an iso transformer.

I simply did not see ANY ground wire run from the monitor frame to ground. After reading a bunch of threads on some separate monitor issues this lack of ground became a question.

So simply put;

1) does it need a ground?
2) presuming "yes," at what point on the frame should it start and where should it end?

I appreciate all the replies so far! Dont want to sound like an ingrate!

I have several 25" K7000's and one 19" K7000. All are grounded the same. Field ground to frame. Check the photo to where they are grounded to the frame.

It's an equipment ground. Not needed to operate, but needed for safety. If something shorts from chassis or other energized part to metal, the ground gives it somewhere to go other than the next live body to touch it. So, yes, safety first. [emoji4]

Thanks again for thoae who replied... just wanted to clear that up.

Yes, safety first. The monitor has been grounded.
