I fired up the game room at the weekend and my SilverStrike Bowling was doing its usual boot up sequence when i got a message on the screen. Something to do with a board not being detected and a counter counting down. By the time i saw it it was at about 4 seconds so i dont know how long it was originally. Once it got to 0 the screen went off with a high pitch squeel.
Turned the game off and looked in the back and the usb to the little security board was loose. Pluged it back in and turned the game back on. Nothing on screen then crackle at the anode cap!

Did the security board not being connected take out my monitor or was this just a coincidence?

Didn't really get enough time to get the full message on screen before it went out.
Anyone with this game, or other similar games, ever had this before?

Either way, looks like another flyback replacement on this flippin' polo..

If you got a message on screen then the monitor should be good still. Is the mobo booting? Make sure fans are coming on and power supply is good. Make sure the video card connection is good. I don't think the usb being loose on the I/o pcb will affect the monitor. Crackle at the anode cap is normal, You can reseat the cap, Discharge chassis, Clean Anode cap, make sure it has a good seal on tube and the crackle should go away.

Thanks for the reply.

The board is booting like normal just nothing on screen. Was just strange how the screen went off as the counter got to 0. Hoping it doesnt have a security feature that kills the board if the security pcb is not connected. Wish i saw what the message was.

I'll do as you suggest with the anode cap. It was the first time the game had been switched on for a month or so, so maybe you are correct.
