I went to look at couple of these machines that someone had and they both booted up very slowly. When I tested them and started a game I noticed that they both had a good amount of lag/choppiness throughout the game play. I only played for a few minutes on each machine but that doesn't seem normal. Shouldn't the game play smooth the entire time? Any idea what would be wrong?

He has another SSB that's he's going to test out soon and hopefully that doesn't have the same issue. Is this a common issue with these machines?

Assuming I can get a good working SSB are you able to take an image of the HD to backup just in case and/or clone that over to a SSD?

Need to look at the mother board and video card caps.

Sometimes they are obvious if you look first, before doing anything else

to these models.

Bad caps can cause a few symptoms so always look first!

Need to make sure the computer is clean and not over heating the micro

because the fans are bad.

What have you found?

Thanks for the info. I wasn't there too long outside of powering them on and testing them for a few minutes. I'll likely go check them out again so I'll look at all of this further. Hopefully the other SSB he has doesn't have any issues so I won't even have to worry about it.

Based on what your saying I don't think I want one with these issues as it could so many different things causing it.

I have made images of most of the older games to allow up to a dg41ty and engt430 card. This helped a lot as the 865 motherboard and 5200 graphics cards are old and honestly they suck.
