Silly gamestop manager

That's the reason I hate them alone! I used to love Babbage store chains in the malls. I remember they used to have the monitors at the store fronts showcasing the latest games.... Both of the Babbages stores I used to frequent were bought up by Gamestop - I'm sorry that place bllllllllloooowwwwwsss!

Wasn't Funcoland also bought up by Gamestop?

They all were - Babbages, Funcoland, Software Etc, the list goes on...

Yes, GameStop ate up Babbage's, Electronics Boutique, Funcoland, etc. which was the reason for a lot of duplicate GS stores in the same location/area.

I used to love Funcoland. I got a good number of used NES games BITD. My brothers and I used to go there as they always had a TV setup with a console to test and play games. For some reason, the employees always seemed friendlier and helpful too. But maybe it's just my biased negative opinion about GS that's skewing my memory. LOL.

Funcoland was the shit. I loved picking up the newspaper listing of all their games. Lots of times though, they never had the game in stock that you wanted.

A friend of mine has one of those listing Stadium Events for under a dollar... Ahh, the good old days.

Hahaha. I still find those every time I go through old boxes at my parents' place. They're all yellowed and shit and I have games highlighted that I wanted...I generally shed a tear and toss them unless they're still in good shape :p

When Black ops came out my buddies went to game stop and stood in a line wrapping around the plaza wile 2 of us went to a local store called Slackers. We had no line and were in and out 10 mins after they opened to sell at midnight.

If you lookup gamestops records in most states databases they are listed as funcoland

This doesn't surprise me. I never bothered to research how that went down. I always assumed that GameStop was FuncoLand, just under a new name/management and then they went and bought up all those other chains. I guess my reasoning would be that I never saw a GS before they took over all the FLs here and I never saw both stores open at the same time.

That's it? shit, we have them every few blocks on some of the busier roads here. I hate GS with a passion. I'll only buy stuff from there if there's some exclusive preorder bonus I want. Even then, if the bonus is not in the case, I sometimes keep the game wrapped and bring it back later, then buy the game elsewhere. I just really don't want to give them money.

For some reason we have two Gamestops in our mall. lol

I loved funco too!! Remember when they had an ad in EGM and Gamepro waaaaaaaay back in the day? This was when they only had like one store in every other state. You could send your games into them by mail and either trade them towards something else ,or they would send you a check.

Have you not been reading what we've been discussing? :)

There are two GameStops because they both used to be different video game stores. Most likely Funcoland, EB, Babbage's etc. When GameStop ate up all of those companies, they kept most locations rather than merging/closing stores. The merging/closing didn't happen until recent years, at least in my area.

Wow this manager is off his fricking rocker , he's telling customer that we are breaking the law selling games cheaper than gamestop , and that they can't make the rent because of us , I had the guy go tell him to have corporate call me so we can talk, lol

Wow. A small local store putting the big corporate monster out of business? Congrats man - that's gotta be the American Dream, if anything is!

GS can suck it. If you were local to me, you'd get all my game related business. Just sayin'.

That would be a pretty sweet victory, man. If that ever happens, be sure to take pics of GS closing down :)

I don't know how anyone would believe it was "illegal" to sell games cheaper than GS, though. What kind of sense does that make? Regardless, it's still cheaper to the customer, which is all they should care about in those terms :) I remember once back when you could still buy Dreamcast games new, GS had Jet Grind Radio for $30 or so, when the Target next door had it for $7.50 - and that wasn't a sale or clearance price at the time. The guy at GS tried to convince me to buy from them with some crazy story I'm sure, but why would I pay that much more. Come to think of it, I think the $30 GS price was for a USED copy, while Target's was obviously new.

lol this manager sounds like a stand up kinda guy, the kind you want to stand up so you can knock them out. lol

btw i enjoyed the foamy the squirrel rant.

Even better. He's probably getting some push back from corporate and is freaking out about now.
