Just picked up a decent taito cab with Silkworm in it for a great price. Been looking for a cab to build out Elevator Action (acquired nice parts from Mupes). Originally was a Jungle King.

Trying to research if anyone would want the Silkworm parts and it looks like it gets no love... havent played it much but looks like decent game.

Any fans out there or are the parts (board, bezel, CP) undesirable???

Try the area here where people post up parts for sale instead here in the the general forum.

And be patient, sometimes it just might take a lot longer than 24 hours to sell it or find someone interested.

I didn't know what that was so I googled it. It looks like a somewhat interesting side scrolling shooter(then again there are lots of those)

Silkworm is not too popular with collectors but was a pretty common kit and the parts are easily available. buyers may be hard to find unless you price it cheap.

Silkworm is alright, was suppose to pick one up a couple of months ago, but another local collector ran over my deal. I probally would have ripped it out anyway and converted it back to what is was but for the life of me, i cant remeber what cab it was in.

The problem is when you pull the "kit" out of the game it will only fit the exact same cabinet type you took it out of.

People who might like Silkworm and ALSO have a Taito cabinet that they are looking to convert to Silkworm is a pretty small market.

Might as well just sell the board.

It's one of those JAMMA boards where if it was cheap enough I'd pick it up just to try it out, but I've never played it before so it holds no nostalgia value for me.

Thanks I was not intending on posting for sale just yet... I posted here to find out why no love for the game.

I bought the game knowing I couldnt sell these parts so I am good there... but as someone mentioned I would assume most would want to convert the taito conversations back to original such as myself.

Maybe I can get 20 bucks back for the board or something gotta pull the marquee board and bezel still Ill prob be posting in FS section soon see what happens

I finished getting my Silkworm back into minty shape last night and am surprised that it doesn't get more love on here. The game play is a bit like Contra except there are vehicles, so it makes the game feel a bit more multi-dimensional. Most levels you're engaged in hand to hand combat, but the tanks, planes and jet skis makes it almost feel like you're playing 4 games in one. I think that part of why people may not appreciate the game is because it was never released as a dedicated cabinet. In a lot of ways, the kit games are like lost orphans because there' s no real way to restore them to original condition and they never had a big enough follow to really devote time and energy towards preservation. I don't think that I would rank the game up there with Qbert or the 80's classic, but it's probably equivalent to a Bad Dudes and does have it's place in history and time.

I'm going to be working on a silkworm pretty quick here. It's on my to do list. I've got about 8 more games to grind through and silkworm is right up there with War - Final Assault and a silent dragon in a Ms. Pacman cabinet.
