i recently picked up a pong-clone called RALLY. while the cabinet is in great condition, the letters on the control panel and the coin insert panel are worn / scratched off. have a look at some pictures:

i've asked at a local laser cutting / engraving company if they could reproduce the panels. they could, but it would cost me some serious bucks. therefore my question how expensive it would be to silkscreen the letters directly on the metal panels and if someone from this forum would be willing / able to take on the task. i don't know zip about silk-screening and how much it costs, so don't kill me if i'm asking the impossible ...

Ully you really need to get out more :D

right now i'm living inside my RALLY :D

i have found two local companies who i'm going to contact tomorrow, but i'm not sure if they are working for private persons. if not, would you be willing to take on the task? i have no idea however which costs are involved, but its a plain and simple metal panel with only black lettering!

p.s.: those panels you've just screened look KICKa** great!
p.p.s.: someone else could be interested as well, don't know if that would reduce costs ...

the costs of screening these wouldnt be that much.
dont know what a metal refinsher would charge.
need to scan those BEFORE you have the plates refinshed.
and Take measurements of ALL text placements.

yeah a typo
Re-Finisher.
if thats even the right word :D

someone who would basically sand and clear coat the orginal metal plates.
just the scan would be fine. so a jpg (300 dpi)

isn't it good enough if i just sand it down, thus removing all the dirt and scratches? or does it have to be clearcoated before the screening process?

would you have the time to squeeze this project in between all your other stuff if i fail to find someone locally? and would it be cheaper if we got two or three of those screened at once?

well Im not metal finisher.
some metals have to be clearcoated, Brass is one.
so it dosnt rust or oxidize. some metals/Cps were anodized.

as far as sanding usally re-done to match the grain.

pricing wouldnt change that much on just a few pieces
but is there anyone else out there especailly state side that needs these??
speak.

it's not stateside, but there are two guys in italy who own a rally as well. i'm not sure if they could be interested in this, it would probably depend on the price. IF the price is right, i will most definitely go for it, because i can't live with the way the panels are at the moment.

i just don't know yet who to ask regarding that re-finishing stuff ...
