Hi guys, I am doing some repair work and need to run a jumper wire from a chip leg to a resistor. I've seen people use a clear goo on the solder joint between the chip leg and the jumper wire, is this regular clear silicone or something special? I have some clear silicone sealant that I've used in the house, not sure if this is the right thing...

Thanks,

P

Epoxy lasts forever. Fingernail polish doesn't and allows for an easier repair if you ever have to replace the chip.

Thanks seamed like a dumb question but didnt want to be doing something that wasn't right on stuff I mess with.

Wasn't really a dumb question BTW. :D But now you know more than some notorious repair houses! :p

Heat shrink tubing is my favorite - nothing to clean off later.

Thanks guys, I think I'll try the epoxy after I make sure everything works...
