signs for teh Phet!

It would be a tough call between lighting it up or giving it a semi-antiqued look with just paints.

Well this has both:

And it seems to work well visually. I wonder what it looked like lit?

I think painting it would look great...with UV reactive paint around the routed part of ARCADE... and I want one too...

Any way to extend the back of the arrow and add "ASSHAT" perpendicular to ARCADE?

Today is your lucky day...

Why is it not showing? What tha... Are animated gifs not allowed to be linked?

Can I do that with EL wire? Have each letter light up from top to bottom, then the whole word lights up, then back to black, then it starts over, the top letter lights, etc? If you can do it with cheap Christmas lights, I would think it's possible and hopefully easy.

yeah, actually i can change the letter spacing and add it on the top, as long as the letters have enough arc on the end to bend the wire around. Phet, prok knows how to do that stuff like your talking...

Can you send me the artwork you're using to make this, I can add "ASSHAT" to the top...make the mods, etc... then send it back? BTW... what are we talking as far as price is concerned?

VERY interested... PS: my email is frizfry (at) gmail (dot) com...
Thanks!

It's definitely possible. Do I know how? No. It's just a matter of finding a circuit somewhere for cheap that lights up 6 LEDs in a similar fashion, and then changing the LEDs for that letter's EL wiring. Some of the wiz's on here can probably make something like this in their sleep... But not moi. I can just Photoshop something like this in my sleep. :D

I can put you in contact with a local friend of mine who does neat projects with PIC chips. I'm sure he could whip up a controller for you no prob.

Seriously, quit holding out on us. How much?

Is this EL wire water (weather) proof? I'd seriously want to do a sign outside of my gameroom building provided it could withstand the elements. How wicked cool would it be to have this on the outside of a gameroom building???

Would something like this work?
http://factorydirecttrains.com/sunoco-gas-station-sign.aspx
I can't get the gif to load on here, because it's too big, but basically it's an HO scale (1:87) Sunoco gas station sign that lights up each letter one at a time (they stay on as the next one lights), with the final step being the border and arrow lighting up. If it's compatible with the EL wire, it might be perfect for lighting up ARCADE instead of SUNOCO, and the border instead of the red arrow.

I've put Phet in contact with a local friend of mine who is an Electrical engineer that does custom projects such as this. He'd love to start doing projects such as this for our hobby.

Anyways, if there are multiple parties interested in custom signs that can flash like this, then let me know.

For DPtwiz: If you want to work out a deal with him to get something designed that you can sell exclusively to package with your signs, then he's cool with that too.

Anyone who is interested either way can PM me with details and contact info that I can pass along.

EDIT: this would be for a dedicated controller to work with the EL wire. Not an actual sign.
