Asking the question for a potential repair customer.. he is thinking about buying a Skins game but the monitor goes to a red color once in a while. Per the seller, all it takes is a little adjustment of the monitor and it goes back to being a nice image.

is this something as simple as a cold solder joint/bad pot? I want to provide the guy some decent info (with the associated disclaimer) so he can take it into consideration with the price - since he doesnt have any idea or interest in fixing things himself.

pots, and or neckboard...

could be rendomly red gun shorting but id think if that was the case it wouldnt adjust out..

Just fixed a Carnevil that was doing that... would work fine when you first turned it on, but would lose green after it was on a little... flexing the board showed that the green woud come back,... blah blah.. long story short, ended up being a leg on the IC on the board.

So... try flicking it too while you're back there.

Bad potentiometer. (doubtful)
Red gun drive transistor.
Tube - intermittent red gun short.

Either way..... shouldn't be a complicated repair.
The monitor is most likely due for a going over anyways.

FYI - Cold solder joints tend to cause you to LOSE a color..... not cause one to go high.
