I'm putting new side art on my Popeye. I have never done it before so is there a good way to go about it or should I just clean it and stick it on?

A buddy of mine swears by Windex.

Clean and dry the side of the cabinet. Lightly mist Windex onto it. (Don't have to do the entire side of the cab, just the area where the side art goes, but spray a slightly larger area so you have room to work.) Apply side art. The art will adhere flat to the side of the cab but the thin layer of Windex will allow you to slide the side art around until you get it situated exactly where you want it. Then gently but firmly squeegee out the Windex, starting from the center of the art and working your way outward.

The Windex prevents instant adhesion. You definitely don't want to drop money on new side art and then totally destroy it by accidentally placing it incorrectly, because once it sticks pulling it back up is fraught with peril.

so rapid tac or windex? i need to get my full missile command sideart on yet and i'm not good and the dry method..

Most vinyl people advise against windex as it has ammonia in it.

They usually use rapid tac or mix their own application fluid. Or they go dry, which is usually better, but takes some practice.

Here's the recipie i have uses to make application fluid.

4 drops dish soap (less is better than more, any brand works except the "eco" friendly stuff)
1/2 cup isopropal alcohol (MUST be isopropal)
3 1/2 cups water

I use mild dish soap like dawn or joy just a tsp in a few cups of water, mixed in a squirt bottle, works like a charm every time, i just use either my library card or my hollywood video card as a squeegee for smaller applications, larger ones i would employ either an automotive one, or a stiff piece of cardboard works pretty good too, this method is also great for screen protectors or UV vinyl sheets
