I swear to God that everytime I find something I must have at a decent price someone always seems to snipe me. I have the app on my phone keeping me updated within 300 miles and I still get sniped. What kills me is that there are a few people in my area who seem to always be the ones doing it too. Which is fine if you are adding to your collection, but it bugs me when they are just flip artists. You see the same game a week later, but now its a 60-n-1, or its $200 more and not worth what you were going to do to it.

It's just bugging me, because I just missed out on a nice 4player midway cab cheap with a bad board and a nice Neo-Geo cab on the dirt dirt cheap.

OK rant over. Onto yard work....

I think we all feel your pain brother! :)

In my area there is about 5 big collectors that all go the same auctions.. all hate each other but pretend to like each other when in person... then when anyone of us post on craigslist for "want arcades" or "want pinballs" all those same douche bags flag each other so the listing gets removed. It has gotten so bad that when I see the guys at the auctions they are actually talking or arguing with each other about it. So craigslist as become worthless lately to me with the sniping and flagging.

Sounds like borderline obsession.

What I want to know is who has the luxury to drop everything and pick up a potentially expensive item that's anywhere from a few to several hundred miles away.

I wish I had time to go to some of the auctions in the area, my cousins give me the update after they watch games for $25-$100 on the regular. One of the reasons I expanded my range 300 miles was to try and get out of some of these guys "turf" but then you just realize you are in some other persons "turf". Its annoying.

I'm not sure who these guys are, but they apparently have that option. I sure as hell don't.

It wouldn't take much work for someone to create 100 false CL listings around the country for various desirable arcade games in one day, and drive this forum absolutely f***ing Armageddon-style bonkers.

(No, I'm not gonna do it. I get pissed at CL, too!)

Yeah I often wonder how come there isn't a show based on these auctions and the criagslist crap going on. If people think Storage Wars is interesting to watch they would really love the arcade auctions. I have seen people out bid each other on a game that is worth nothing just to make a point and be a dick. It is getting way out of hand, and at the end of this month is our biggest auction of the year here in Iowa so i am looking forward to see more "Arcade Wars" going on and being outbid by the same idiots who just sell the machines back on craiglist for hundreds more than they are worth.

All the more reason to step it up and snatch a few games from these guys.

"Their turf"- sell them your linked Daytona twins and then sell them to somebody else after they're on the way. You just had to do it since somebody offered you a nice amount more.

Granted, your in Iowa, but where do you find your auction info? My cousins who do auctions, just do estate auctions. Is there Arcade specific auctions?

HAHAHA!! It's sooo wrong.... I love it!

The guys who do it for a living are the ones that can drop everything.

If you tried hard enough you could send those guys on so many wild goose chases that they would eventually just quit altogether.

At least you guys can find that stuff on Craigslist. I go on and find diddly crap, can't tell if I'm Craigslisting wrong or what. I either find nothing, hunks of crap for $900, or something good thats about a 4 hour drive away

Is it wrong to want to try this?

For the amount of time spent scouring craigslist I've really found very few decent purchases at the end of the day. By far most of my games have come from other collectors, where you usually get almost as good a price for a much better condition machine.

Too bad they aren't couriers instead. I'd pay them for snatching up a cab so quick, and they wouldn't have to deal with fixing it up and waiting around for a buyer.

Most klov members don't have the luxury but will

"drop everything and pick up a potentially expensive item that's anywhere from a few to several hundred miles away."

I am one but car is broken right now.

I put up a wanted 2 days ago. I'm surprised it's not flagged. I have met 2 of our big time collectors. One (Mike) is a great guy. Very smart and passionate about the hobby. This other (no name) arcade auction hoarder has no idea how to work on the games, or knows the value.
