Hi guys,

I've got a SI that I bought in a combo deal with a SI pin. I paid $400 for the both of them. And I'm wondering if it is worth restoring, not necessarily to collector quality, but to a nice example I guess. Here are the issues it has...

- Monitor VERY dim (Cap kit maybe?)
- Mystery Ship sounds continuously in attract mode
- Sometimes lines thru invaders in attract mode
- Ship only moved left when it did start a game
- Credit switch adds credit to counter but not to game, so therefore it now won't start a game
- Heavy wear on the control panel
- T-Molding coming off on bottom on cabinet
- Particle board damaged and won't hold new T-Molding if installed - is that reparable?
- Bezel only has a small amount of flaking in the A C & E of Space Invaders - the bezel is the best looking part of the cabinet
- Cabinet sides are very dingy - can this be cleaned without destroying the paint?

So, my question is... Worst case scenario would be having to have the board set repaired or replaced, monitor chassis repaired or replaced, bad RAM, new power supply, fly back, etc... Market value wise... Is this game worth restoring??... I DON'T plan to keep it very long if restored as it would be very difficult to get into and out of my basement for shows and such.

What are your opinons??

Tried uploading some pics, but the files were too large

I had a similar monitor issue. Cranked the contrast and brightness to max and barely an image. A few mins on the rejuvinator fixed that.

The lines could be ram..but could be low voltage. First thing i'd look at is the power supply and probably just recap it and get it back to spec. You'll avoid the eventual screen o gargage at the very least (when the reset circuit doesn't work) and probably avoid killing any ram that isn't currently toast.

Also, you could probably carefully clean the cab sides with a magic eraser. T molding grooves you could repair with a little wood putty or just add a little tape into the channel until the molding fits.

I think it would be hard to get your money back out of it. It's not worth the effort unless you're doing it for yourself.

Sell it off as-is to someone that wants it.

That's my 2 cents.

Probably about $50 -60 to get it working right and clean... But i don't think you'd get more than $200 - $300 for it. $300 being very high in my opinion.

That's about what I thought it was worth restored. I could restore just for the experience of it, but honestly, I'm more into pinball machines. I find pins a lot easier to move than vids as far as my basement is concerned.

That bezel is just too cool though. I've kicked around the idea of keeping the bezel and making some type of lighted box for it and hanging it on the wall. And sell the cabinet to the first 50 bucks that walks thru the door.

that game is on my want list, if it is not it should be.

Where is the $50 dollar door located?

Louisville, KY if your interested... It won't have a bezel tho. :)

That is a bit far but I will try to get there towards end of month if you can wait that long. No bezel is fine. I will have to bring a trailer and watch for good weather.

It is the War Wagon and I think you are right about the burrowed trailer. It now has three skulls on the hood and only one is human.
