Anyone run into this issue??? I was trying to remove a SI glass bezel from a cab and it would not budge... there are two slides on the top inside of the cab that can be accessed from the rear... I slid them back towards me, thinking this would free the glass...

No luck... just want to know if anyone else ran into this. I'm going to try again but I'm not interested in cracking the glass.

Thanks for suggestions/input

After you pull the sliders all the way back toward you (from the back of the cab), the bezel glass should lift vertically straight up into the top channel and then pull the bottom toward you so it clears the wood holder just above the CP.

Like Russ said...get your fingers under that lifter bar and carefully push up the bezel. Sort of like older pinball machine back glass.

Yup... I tried that... I've got two cabs... one worked as I expected the other is just not budging... I'm thinking that maybe it had become wet or something and perhaps the channel that the glass usually slides into is pinching the glass..

That's possible. It may also be stuck in with dried gunk from spilled soda/beer or what have you.

Also possible a previous owner/operator glued it in or something spaztastic like that.

I've run into this problem as well. There SHOULD be a channel at the top for the glass to recess into when you lift it up and out. However, on mine there is NOT. Its the strangest thing I have ever seen. I still have not been able to remove the glass.

I owned a SI Deluxe and that one had the lockbars also, and the channel recess at the top. No problem removing that bezel.

I'm starting to think they installed the bezel at the factory and then nailed in the bottom channel. It just makes no sense. On mine there is enough slop at the top to see up in there. No recess channel at all. I've owned the machine for 12 years and the bezel has never been removed.

theres also some foam tape on the wood inside that the glass and ink is proably stuck on
before lifting up trying pushing it back and forth a little.
though chances are that ink will seperate from the glass when you remove it :(

Hence why you need run another batch of glass repros ;) ;) ;)

This is what it was!!!!! The foam tape!!! I was very very very careful and rocked it back and forth for a while and got it free with no damage to the artwork!!!

I first checked out the depth of the recess as gorfchampion eluded too with a drywall taping knife and there was plenty of clearance for the glass to slide so I just started to wiggle it slowwwwwly with steady upward pressure on the left and right sides of the bezel.
