disclaimer **** Pinball NOOB ****

I had a chance to pay a Shrek today for about an hour. Its probably the longest I have ever played pinball and after meeting folks here, I tried to have an objective eye.

The backglass was not lit. Is that normal? The large backglass seems like kind of a waste of space. I'm sure the old style scoring lights etc were prone to break etc.

It seemed to have lots of features. I never saw the little pinball machine in the upper right do anything. I assumed it was for higher levels. Lots of action figure looking dolls that did not seem to do anything but certainly gave it a nice look. After collecting 30 yr old arcade games for a while, it was nice to see something new. Also, the multi ball stuff was pretty cool. That was my favorite part.

As I am considering an Iron Man, can anyone here comment on this game and how they compare.

I'll be at the auction this weekend in Dallas. Looking forward to it and a trip to the pinball store.

I don't have a Shrek, I have a family guy which is the exact same game with a different theme.

First off, don't worry about the light behind the back glass. It is suppose to be lit but super easy to fix. Probably just a burned bulb.

The mini pin is fully functional and is suppose to work. In the field, I've seen the mini pinball disabled on family guy a couple times. I heard that it leads to long ball times so sometimes the operators disabled them. Also, if the game detects the mini pinball is broken it will disable it.

If your looking at Iron Man you should also look at Spider Man. I think the games have similar styles but spiderman is much better.

Family Guy is a keeper for me because of the theme. The game is a good solid B, but for me the theme is A+. For the price I recommend being very into Shrek if you pick it up. Again, it is a good game but is very expensive for just a good game.

Thanks for the help. I'm not interested in the shrek, just enjoyed playing it. My only problem with spiderman is that the theme just doesn't get me very excited. Hopefully I'll get to see something cool this weekend.

I hear you. Though, I am a Spiderman owner who has never seen a Spiderman movie, I'm a Shadow owner who has never seen the Shadow.

For me, Iron Man and Spiderman are the same theme, you are a hero and you battle the villians. With the being said, if you are going to pick up an IM, you should play SM. Just find it at a bar and go crazy on it for a while.
