Show us your vintage arcade scans/pictures!!!

This is a fairly recent picture of Marty's Playland in OC,MD. I thought I would share this photo because not only has this place been open since the 30's...its also my childhood arcade. Yup...still alive and kickin'....Wow...this place had it all back in the day. All but a few older games are long gone...cool thing, though, is they have a sick pinball collection in the back. New stuff and old. Everytime I goto the beach I pay Marty's a visit.....

Great pics. I wish I could say that they bring back memories, but where I lived in my childhood we didn't have arcades, only pubs with one or two games. I think the Time Out Tunnel Arcade is by far the best looking.

Sweet Thread. Someof the arcade names I have seen on tokens such as Land of Oz. When I get the time I am going to do a website simular to KLOV but for tokens. And have as much info about the arcade the token came from and possibly pics. But that's years down the road unless I hire some help.

Ahhh, the good 'ol days. I haven't ventured to the boardwalk during the summer for about a decade. I hit it in the winter to go to a bar (they have a shufflebowler) right around the corner from Playland, but of course everything is closed.

There is a small arcade on 136th street in a strip mall, it's got a row with dedicated Galaga, Mrs Pac-Man, Track and Field, and some other vintage games. Got two handfuls of pins. There's actually more regular/vintage games than redemptions and drivers. And the best part is, the place is always full so it shouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon. Which is great since my friends beachhouse is one block over and a bar is three store fronts down.

Finally found a pic of 'Noah's Ark', later 'Paul's Boat', where I first played SeaWolf, a DK Cabaret and one of those wall mounted baseball games with the huge wired remote back in '81-'82. The downstairs was a restaurant supper club (awesome fried chicken), the game room was upstairs in the loft. In fact, the baseball game was mounted between the 2 windows you see on the left of this pic. That wrap-around deck was killer. Anyway, awesome place that burned down in about 1986. 2 local firefighters died in the blaze. Fucking owner started it for the insurance money. R.I.P. Noah's Ark, R.I.P. to 2 heros.

Sent is this the place that had the fire not too long ago, and people were trying to determine whether or not any games were damaged?

Yes Marty's is the place, The dough roller resteraunt and a T shirt shop next store took the most damage, two or three apartments above the arcade were seriously damaged also. The fire happened March 31 2008 on south atlantic street after 12PM

I think this one is from an arcade about 15 minutes outside of Minneapolis. I looked it up while I was there a few years back and visited. The back room still looks like that- pool tables and some pinballs against the wall.

(the Pong was not there :) )

I'll try to find the name of the place.

I went to SS Billiards today for the 2nd time in my life (both times that I've ever been in MN) and 2 comments. First, it's great. I played the original Big Bang Bar (I own the Gene version, but the original is different and special), MM, Corvette, AF, TZ, Hook, Bride of Pinbot which is awfully minty and for sale below market on mr pinball, CFTBL, Attack From Mars, some of the new Sterns like Wheel of Fortune, Spiderman, Batman... and it was a fantastic use of $15. I wish I lived closer to him or to ANY place that had such great pins.

Second, it really sucks that it's so empty. I know not everyone likes the guy, and I certainly love playing pins at home and friends' homes, but I take every chance I get to try to help any operator stay in business. It's good for the world of pinball which is on life support as it is.

Seeing all these amazingly awesome and hilarious pics brings back a ton of memories and I really really hope that we can save the few arcades we have left for a little longer.

So PLEASE! Go support your local and not so local arcade today!

Summer's a great time to road trip a few hours to go to an arcade you love or have never been to before. Please go.

hey man im from delaware too. i live about 5 miles from the christian mall. id love to see some vintage pics of the place. theyve tore down and rebuilt half the place, including the food court, and theres been a total renovation on the interior

does anyone remember DZ Discovery Zone on the kirkwood hwy in northern Delaware? its a goodwill now, how ironic. i actually visit it pretty often looking for cool stuff

there was another really big play-place/arcade like DZ on RT40 right around the DE/MD line, past peoples plaza. i went to it a million times. its been tore down though and turned into a kholes(sp?)

Hey, were you the Chicago guy that was in there playing Corvette around 5:00 yesterday? Lloyd said that a "Chicago guy" was there. I wish I would have known, I would have said hi. I go in there all the time as it is on my way home from work.

Was the owner ever charged or locked up? Also, he couldn't think of a catchier name like Noah's Arkade?

It was a supper club mainly. They just had a few games in the upstairs bar/pool hall. This place introduced me to Sea-wolf and had fried/broasted chicken that was to die for.

I grew up in the little town of Moraga, CA. One of the arcade spots was Rheem Valley Bowl. It was open from the late 60s all the way through the mid-90s. Supposedly, they got sued for not having appropriate accommodations for handicap customers and were shut down shortly after. After a few years of failed attempts at saving it or making it a historical landmark, it was demolished. Really pissed when it happened because it was one of the few places in town that had an arcade.

In it's prime:

Dilapidated shot right before it got demolished:
