A few more pics to add to this old thread that I "still" say needs a sticky.
Below you'll find photos of Golf 'n' Stuff @ Metrocenter in Phoenix AZ circa
1984 inside and out as well as a photo of Superfun in Paradise Valley Mall
in Phoenix AZ circa 1979. Both were hangouts of mine when I was a kid.
Sportland is on the OC, MD boardwalk. You live in MD![]()
I'm about 10 miles from Union Beach, NJ.. never heard of an arcade there so I assume it's long gone. Keansburg, the next town east on the bayshore still has 5 arcades.. a couple of them still have some of those Exhibit Supply rotary merchandisers from the 30's.
Jilly's in OC, NJ is one of the better arcades on the Jersey shore.. Lots of pinballs (15 or so) and usually a few new games every season.. there are 5 or 6 more arcades in OC, and probably 8 or 10 in Wildwood. The Seaside Heights Boardwalk lost an arcade last year (Central Arcade) and is down to 5 or 6 now, but still has a fairly excellent classic arcade on the south end. Point Pleasant has 4 arcades and Manasquan has a fairly decent arcade for the space they have..
Some of these places are still fairly big, especially in Wildwood.. I can only imagine what they looked like back in the day, they're mostly a disappointment these days (surprised?). I was fairly impressed with Rehoboth Beach's arcades when I visited last year, a couple of them have some cool import games.
I am originally from south jersey and used to vacation every summer in wildwood for years when I was a kid. I am almost certain my parents have pics of me in the arcades back in the 80's. There was no shortage of them back then and I fondly remember a huge one near morays pier that was two buildings long full of games. I'll try to dig them out.
Great post. Here's some pics I collected off the web.

Hey- do you know where these are from?
I think this one is from an arcade about 15 minutes outside of Minneapolis. I looked it up while I was there a few years back and visited. The back room still looks like that- pool tables and some pinballs against the wall.
(the Pong was not there)
I'll try to find the name of the place.
Kerry
There was a good sized chain based out of Youngstown, OH by the same name, probably had a couple hundred stores.. it was later bought by Pocket Change of Newark, DE which also ran a few hundred mall arcades, the Kahunaville entertainment center chain, and a local street route called Interstate amusement. I still have a bunch of games with "Fun-N-Games" & "P.C. ASSET" aluminum property tags on them.
Somewhere in that mix was a mid-sized chain called Jolly Time.. I think Pocket Change bought them a few years before they bought F-N-G?
Naturally, Namco bought out Pocket Change in '01.
