I wonder how people who do record recording with video or web cameras mount their cameras ?
Do you mount them to the cabinet top ? To the side ? Do you use a stand-alone tri-pod ?
Any pictures of a set-up would be great....

Thinking about constructing something that can be mounted to the top marquee holder screws....

I would be interested in seeing some pics of peoples set ups for this as well. I want to record some stuff for my YouTube channel and hate having the tripod in my may.

It's nothing fancy for me, just a digital standard def camcorder on a tri-pod over my left shoulder. If I get a score I want to submit I just connect the camcorder to my computer via USB and drag off the MPEG-2 file. Can easily author a DVD with it or upload footage to YouTube.

I'm lucky enough to have enough game room space that a less obtrusive setup isn't needed. If I'm working on a high score for a game I usually move the cab to the middle of the floor in my game room where I have plenty of room around the cabinet. Makes getting into the back of the cab to film dip switch settings easy should I need to. I only move it back into its row if I'm having people over or when I'm done with it.

I'm interested in this myself for video capture purposes.(I have weird plans) It's hard for me to figure out how to get a clear picture of a CRT monitor...

Yea I was hoping to see something that was clamped on or somthing to the cabinet to sort of keep the camera out of the way while playing.

Here's a quote of mine from a Twin Galaxies thread last year...

"Unfortunately, I never took pictures of the set-up I had several years ago, but I will be putting it back together.

It entailed a platform on top of the machine for the VCR and a harness with a platform for the camera. The camera position was directly in front of the marquee and pointed down at the screen.

I could adjust camera angle easily, and this made my Ms. Pac-man recordings completely centered. (I always hated the angled and off-centered recordings most are prone to make using conventional set-ups).

I will be building four platforms for use with two 9" TV/VCRs and two 6" LCD/VCRs I have. (A cabinet like Donkey Kong is easy to make one for, but the slant of the top of most cabinets have to factor into the design).
"

I really have to get back to this.

I read your reply over at TG. I am hoping I can come up with something to use with my games. I was thinking about something that has a clamp on one end and that sorta flex/bends around to where you need it. I found something on B&H cameras website but I wonder if it will work. Here is a link to it. Let me know what you think. I may pick one up to try it before long.

Ordered two of these:

@Darren: didn't the camera block your view on the screen that way ?
I guess it's a matter of length of the player and if you play standing or sitting on a stool.

It is indeed sweet to have a straight angle because I personally can't watch any angled gameplay too long without getting a little bit "seasick"........

It doesn't block the view of the screen at all. It makes no difference whether if you're sitting or standing.

In fact you forget it is even there. (BTW. I'm 6' 2" tall).
