Should Pac-Man CRT be centered between bezel?

I'm restoring a Pac-Man. However, this Pac-Man has a Kortec chassis with a Goldstar tube.

I took the chassis out for a cap kit and put everything back in.

But I noticed that it seems like the tube is sitting too high because it is definitely not centered vertically between the edges of the artwork on the bezel.

(I have made 100% sure the monitor is mounted as all 4 metal monitor bracket screws are in place.)

In the picture below, you will notice that the top edge of my screen is getting clipped off. Hard to tell but I've got a good 1 to 2 inch gap on the bottom. With no virtually way of lowering the screen.

I don't recall Pac-Man having a screen this far off.

Can any other Pac-Man owners tell me if this screen placement is normal?

I also need to acquire the plastic crt bezel that fits around the tube and I'm afraid it will not fit with this tube.

(now as I'm writing this, it appears that the screen is also not centered horizontally either. However, this is something I could fix)

I think it's probably fine. If you can see the top when you're playing the game, that's what you want. Your phone isn't where your head would be when playing, so I wouldn't consider whatever's in that photo to be "cut off."

Also, hard to say "centered" or not when talking about the bezel (with one angle), the monitor (a different angle) and your head position… It's all relative.

My advice is to put it together with the plastic bezel and turn the monitor on. It'll be really obvious if something is out of whack.

Thanks ieure! You actually have a very keen eye. I was taking that picture at a much higher angle than my head would normally be during play. ;)

I found a plastic screen bezel here:

..but it's $60 shipped. I suppose that's the way to go.

Unless anyone has a cardboard template? ...or maybe that's more trouble than it's worth?

I have a Jr. Pac-Man that is a Pac-Man conversion. My monitor and glass bezel are not at the same angle; there is more space between the monitor and glass bezel at the bottom. They fixed this alignment issue in more recent games, such as Super Pac-Man. However, in my Pac-Man, there is still enough space to fit the black plastic monitor bezel. My horizontal alignment seems good enough. Maybe yours has something to do with the harness. ??

There is some play in the entire monitor when you bolt it down so you can shift the entire monitor one way or another...also if you didn't know you need the metal brackets that mount onto monitor..they fit under the bolts and then the plastic bezel surround attaches too..then the tinted plexi fits in there and is held in place by the plastic clips...this is what keeps everything straight. You can go with that one piece but they are harder to get to stay in place and you often have to play with them or get something to keep them in place..look for the original pieces and your will be happy man.

I have seen cabs where you can tell the cab isn't completely square based on how the brackets are slightly off but usually you can adjust the monitor mount to take care of this...and you should have a little play in vertical and horizontal size pots to move picture up, down, or left or right.
