Should it be required to leave asking/sold prices in FS threads?

I think the bigger issue is that people still refuse to use the FEEDBACK system. A perfect example... I've left 5 different members feedback in 2017...

...I've received 1.

1 out of 5 pretty much sucks ass.

The system only works if people use it.

I would much rather see management enforce a "MUST LEAVE FEEDBACK" policy well before I'd support a "MUST LEAVE PRICE" policy.

The main reason people pull the prices is if you leave them it just means two years from now some dipshit is going to argue that it should be priced like the one that sold 2 years ago.

Things are worth whatever someone will pay for them at that given time.

The way prices have been going up I don't know that a price left 6 months ago would even be accurate.

Usually the people who complain the most about this kind of stuff have zero to do with the transaction and don't even own the machine in question. People just like to bitch on the internet.

I agree with this. Who cares what it sold for? Ask what you want if no one wants it ask less. Seems simple enough.

Does it matter?

Point being for every person like Exidy who at least tries to do something there are 1000 other people who just sit around and bitch and tell them they are doing it wrong.

Its the internet disease.... everyone has an opinion and a critique but zero interest in actually doing anything themselves.

Not just an internet disease, probably a more intensified view of real life.

I believe that there should be an enforcement of proper thread subject lines. There are often posts which are vague or lack the most important piece of information: seller's location. There needs to be a universal format for subject lines in the for sale/trade sections, such as "Item description - Price - Location." Simple and direct.

As far as leaving sale prices intact, I believe it should be required. There really is no valid reason not to do so. The real issue IMO is the growing trend of sellers saying "make me an offer." These sellers are the big winners when sale prices are removed from sale posts as it makes it harder for people to research real world values on games/parts, and the risk of people overpaying for something sky rockets.

I mentioned this before: I believe Pinside has the best set up for their sale/trade sections. It is easy to view previous sale prices, and everything can be filtered based on distance and location.

Its a very corporate/government mentality.

Lets call a meeting to discuss if we should should do something.... waste a ton of hours talking about doing something.... then end up not actually doing anything.

Then call another meeting on the same subject..

This is one of the excuses I have heard. IDK about everyone else here, but in my 4 years of selling here I have never had anyone contact me about a current item I was selling with a listed price, pointing me to a price it sold for x number of years ago saying that's what it worth. I would love to hear if this actually happens to people.

Happens to me all the time, just like that.

why does it matter where my joystick I have for sale is located?

why aren't you willing to click the title if you're interested in the item?

Should we put pictures in the title too?

Should our paypal information be part of the title as well?

1. Location is extremely important when looking to buy a game cabinet, genius. And yes, I think location is a factor when buying parts as well, i.e. when considering getting a part from two possible sellers

2. Why aren't you willing to make a coherent title as a common courtesy to your fellow klov members? Posting an item's location in the title saves people time from clicking on irrelevant posts. Not doing so is lazy and ignorant of others.

3. The condescension in your response is not helpful to anyone, and just makes you come across as a complete ass.

So, about this Tech-Noir pizza/arcade thing I've been hearing about, anyone want to go in on it? Huh? Huh? :)

I've got nothing for this thread, it's been discussed more times than I can count, and I haven't been a member for too many years. And I don't really have anything to complain about, so I'll end my post.

Wait! Tombo suggesting, that the Mods may/may not use a paper shredder for suggestions.....that really chops my hide. Shame on you Tombo, shame on you. Of course, he'll probably just edit this post, and have me say something like "I enjoy putting daisies in my hair, and going for long walks on the beach.......". Again, shame on you Tombo, shame!!! :D

The only verified info your going to get is the original asking price not what it sold for. People can lie about the sold price if they want to manipulate a mandatory rule, the buyer would only know the truth so based on that it's a silly request.

It's better than nothing. At least prospective buyers have a starting point at gauging market value. Hiding asking prices does nothing but help sellers gouge uninformed buyers.

I have a round 100 items I need to sell right now. I determine a price 2 ways. eBay sold listings and Klov Sold listings. There's no other way.

So recently I have been trying to determine some prices. Well none on eBay so I come here. Cool several have sold, but crap, no prices.

So what do I do. Mark it high and look like an Ass, mark it to low and give it away.

Well if only there was a solution. Oh yes there is. Leave the dang price up. The SOLD price,. Sheesh that's so hard.

Donkey Kong pcb 150 shipped SOLD

Or would everyone rather we JUST use eBay's inflated prices as the gauge for selling? Yea I didn't think so.

People are going to do what people do. FWIW, the only idea I've read thus far that is a VERY bad idea is the idea of limiting edit times...

When I have a list of items for sale, I tend to drop in and add "SOLD" next to items that sell. Limited editing time prevents this. Bad idea.

You're getting so upset about having to move your index finger, and click 1 more time, that you're cussing at me.

Think about how ridiculous you sound right now.

You're calling me lazy, in a thread where you're complaining about having to click your index finger.

If people are using a public forum, to sell games publicly, for personal profit, the least they could do is leave the prices for historical reference and the benefit of the community, as the information is useful to many.

It's a simple courtesy, for the many hundreds or thousands of dollars you're making from the use of a public forum.

And this folks is a reasonable respectful response, i fully agree with..
