Just noticed the fan in my Happ P/S in my Capcom big blue is dead. Is it worth the effort to replace? It looks like a standard 80mm fan, does anyone know off hand?

I would guess if the fan is dead the power supply may soon be afterwords. Would by a replacement power supply then replace the fan at your leisure and have it as a spare.

in an arcade situation where the game is going to be on for 14 hours a day or whatever, then id replace the fan.

just going to have it on for an hour once a week then i'd just leave it.

If you have a free/spare fan, yes.

If you have to pay for the fan, it is likely money better put towards a new power supply.

Any idea what size?

The power supply box size or the wattage?

If you get a 200watt or 250watt you'll likely be ok.

Post some pictures of the power supply and we can tell you what you have now.

You say fan, so I am guessing is a "brick" ATX like power supply.

Also, what power connectors does your current power supply have? We want those to match up for you on install or you'll have to make an adapter.

I meant the fan size; it looks like a common 80mm, so cheap and available everywhere

the fans on the Peter Chou box power supplies are not very good quality and often seize up. you can still run it without the fan, but all the capacitors and components encased in that little metal box will eventually heat up to the point the capacitors are junk.

reason enough why I choose Happ PowerPro over those, even though the Peter Chous are nice units -- it's just not a useful way to occupy my time replacing something that shouldn't have to be replaced.

I think the Big Blues use the larger 150W ones, probably with external power switches (there's 2 kinds) .. if you need assistance matching up part numbers through Happ just drop me a PM later with pictures of what you have.

good luck
