Seller says it plays blind. Looks like it is in good condition. Seller says $300 OBO. It's about a 5 hour round trip. Worth it? Or how much should I offer? Thanks!

i have one.. dont mame it... thats..just wrong.

buy it. cap it. put the golden age trackball games in it.. and enjoy...

You're asking for trouble asking this question here. It would take you less time and expense to find a JAMMA cabinet LOCALLY... and it's OK to convert JAMMA cabs to MAME (in most cases). It is NOT OK to destroy a Centipede (in good condition too) to create a MAME cabinet... and I am very pro-MAME.

Don't do it.

I'm actually just looking for a cabinet to convert to a trackball MAME.

Then, keep looking. With a little patience, you'll find something more generic with a working monitor. Don't ruin a Centipede.

that's a nice looking cab. as a Centipede $300 may be a bit high for it playing blind, especially with a 5 hour trip.

as something to convert to MAME, as has already been stated, it's way overpriced. pick up a cheap JAMMA cabinet for $100 or less or $150 or so for a 25" and don't destroy a classic.

I can't see messing with that machine if I bought it. It's in way too good of shape to change it other than minor improvements/cleaning what's already there. Preserve the classics :)

You asked for opinions John... it's not our fault if you don't like them.

I still say don't do it.

I was interested in getting some responses on the price, not for everyone to blow up at the MAME thing. I'M NOT INTERESTED IN MAME-ING THE THING IF I CAN GET IT WORKING! I asked about the price. If you can't offer a answer about the price question, then don't respond. I know you all hate MAME and all but 1 of my games are dedicated. I respect games, which is why I don't destroy them. Please read the questions before you go knocking someone.

Price seems ok, i'd push them lower though...:p

The 5 hour trip would be a deal killer for me, the cab does look in great shape, easy enough to get at least a multi pede going in it.:)

Dude... you come in and ask for opinions about a dedicated Centipede and in the same breath mention you're planning on MAMEing it and you're surprised by the response you're getting from the folks on a forum dedicated to PRESERVING arcade machines?

This isn't BYOAC or MAMEWORLD... but even on BYOAC and MAMEWORLD you'd likely get similar opinions. It's not cool to MAME a dedicated cabinet.

Want to do the right thing? Build your own cabinet or use a generic JAMMA cab. Don't like the opinions expressed here? Don't ask for them. Simple, right?

Now nut-up and take whats coming (you DID ask for it) or don't ask for peoples opinions. Simple huh?

Now stop whining Nancy...

Yes, my mistake for not mentioning that last resort, if not fixable, I might MAME it. I HAVE MY ANSWER NOW, SO ENOUGH. I WILL NOT MAME THE CABINET. I SWEAR. OK?

I just wanted a price answer and now I have that, so thank you. *DONE*

The seller say's it's playing blind?

I say that would be a good sign that it's going to be fixable......
