How do you have your games arranged?
Oh no-
If you put Galaga and Galaxian on the same row, you're going to get a real-life conversation that mirrors a better-than/best/versus thread here.
Galaga sucks!
FU! Galaxian is an ass!
No way! Galaxian is retro cool!
Damn that- Single shot?
Precision dude- precision!
Two words- Challenging Stage
Oh yeah? EVERY stage is challenging-
Really? What's your high score, like 30K?
Like you could beat it- what's yours? 2M? Score inflation!
blah
blah
etc
OK so I have the following games:
Galaga games
- Galaga
- Gaplus
- Galaxian/Galaga '88
Fighting Games
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel vs Capcom (has a bunch of JAMMA games in it)
- Capcom vs SNK (with Project Justice cart too)
- Neo Geo (I keep Samurai Shodown games in it most of the time)
- Xbox 360 cabinet (Street Fighter IV/UMVC/BlazBlue)
Nintendo Games
- Donkey Kong
- Donkey Kong Jr. / Playchoice 10
- Custom Ninty Cabinet (building)
- Virtual Boy Cabinet
Bike Games/Racing
- Radical Bikers
- Propcycle (huge)
Others
Should I put all the related games together in rows, or should I mix them up? My wife is of the mind that I should mix them up, and should group them. I feel a OCD feeling to put them together.
- T2
- Baby Pac
- Big Kong Cocktail
What do you guys think?????
If you have the room make a "Fighter Island" in the middle of the room. Arrange the games in a circle facing out. This way there is plenty of room for multiple fighters to be played simultaneously.
You should mix them all up in random order like a real arcade.
Some of the 'real' arcades I saw BITD had 5-7 Pacman cabs in a row. I do both, rows of similar games, some walls of random stuff. I try to balance aesthetics with player practicality.

I often saw duplicates together, but never a "Williams" row or a "Nintendo" row like so many collectors like to display. Personally I find grouping a manufacturer's games distasteful and unsatisfying...
I love how you have things arranged Phet! What is that hole on the front of your Satan's Hollow?
A hole.
---------------
Are you calling me an asshole?I am surprised that you have a cabinet with a big hole in the front!
That is more like something I would have.
Why are you surprised? This machine is an unrestored original. The original owner had a credit button installed. This machines was in such good shape I never felt the need to restore it. No OCD here. I'm the normal one.
I guess I got you wrong. Might I suggest one of these bad boys? You could even paint it red to match.

Or just cut a circular wood piece to match, sand it down and paint it. I'm sure he thought of this before; just hasn't gotten around to it.![]()
Actually, I just don't care.
