OK so I have the following games:

Galaga games
  • Galaga
  • Gaplus
  • Galaxian/Galaga '88

Fighting Games
  • Mortal Kombat 1
  • Marvel vs Capcom (has a bunch of JAMMA games in it)
  • Capcom vs SNK (with Project Justice cart too)
  • Neo Geo (I keep Samurai Shodown games in it most of the time)
  • Xbox 360 cabinet (Street Fighter IV/UMVC/BlazBlue)

Nintendo Games
  • Donkey Kong
  • Donkey Kong Jr. / Playchoice 10
  • Custom Ninty Cabinet (building)
  • Virtual Boy Cabinet

Bike Games/Racing
  • Radical Bikers
  • Propcycle (huge)

Others
  • T2
  • Baby Pac
  • Big Kong Cocktail

Should I put all the related games together in rows, or should I mix them up? My wife is of the mind that I should mix them up, and should group them. I feel a OCD feeling to put them together.

What do you guys think?????

Short answer: Yes.

However, not everyone's gameroom exists in a perfect world. I personally have always had to alternate a two-player game with one player game, then two-player game, etc. Otherwise if all the MK and the MVC are next to each other, rowdy players bump elbows too much.

Exactly, I don't think that it works out too well like that. I do have room to space them out, but I really don't want to just consume space like that. Really need to think this out more. It is a huge dilemma for me! I think about it in bed at night.

Yeah...I'm definitely in the minority here.

I like games randomly placed...it kinda reminds me of what they used to look like BITD.

At least around here...non of the arcades had a Nintendo row.. or an Atari row

Grouping them is always cool! But the end of the day, its what YOU want :)

I need to figure out what I want! For example ever since I was a kid I would store my NES games like this. I would put all the games together by manufacturer and then sort them under that by type of game. For a small example:

  • Capcom
    • Mega Man 1
    • Mega Man 2
    • Mega Man 3
    • Mega Man 4
    • Mega Man 5
    • Mega Man 6
    • Strider
    • Bionic Commando
    • Commando
    • ...
  • Konami
    • Castlevania 1
    • Castlevania 2
    • Castlevania 3
    • Bayou Billy (sucks ass)
    • Contra
    • Super C
    • Gradius
    • Lifeforce
    • Top Gun (blargh)
    • ...
  • Data East
    • Bad Dudes
    • Karnov
    • Cobra Command
    • ...

Move your games around. If you don't like it, move them again. The Internet cannot dictate what you will personally enjoy.

I try to put rarely played games next to the games that take a lot of space. For example, Stunt Cycle is next to NBA Jam. It works out well especially because SC is not nearly as deep, so it can be played while 4 people are playing Jam. I also have Neo Geo on an end and spaced an extra few inches from Gaplus to allow for a little freedom of movement.

The huge games and pins are all in a row in the middle of the garage. They are just too big to put anywhere else.

I am glad I have casters on everything! :D

Dude! Then you totally should mess around. I install wheels whenever practical. Most of my games are in an old basement with uneven flooring so i need to stick with leg levelers so games don't rock when you get rough with the controllers.

Stunt Cycle seems totally out of place with all your other games in VAPS. I pretty much draw the line at black and white games. Unless it is some really cool vector game.

I am lucky to have a nice level concrete basement. The only thing that sucks is that I have area rugs down that I really should pick up before I move games. What I need to do I roll up all the rugs, move the games around and try multiple positions ( ;) ) then once I am happy put the rugs back down.

Holy fuck, you're nuts. B&W games are kick-ass. Prop cycle? Not kick ass.

Yah you are old! I am only one year older than Stunt Cycle! I had the Evel Knievel motorcycle when I was a kid, but I never played Stunt Cycle. I am sure it is good, just not one that holds any sentimental value for me.

Have you ever even played Propcycle? I know they had it at CAX. It is very popular in my arcade.

I had that toy as well. And I own Viva Knievel on DVD.

Great movie.

I had Centipede, Dig Dug, Arabian, & Kangaroo all right next to each other. Looked cool.

Two months later I hated it, so now all the games are mixed up and that is the way it will stay.

I think game rooms need chaos.
