a guy i know bought out a storage unit, and inside was a RFM. i helped him get it in the house and put it together for him. it doesnt boot up. no monitor, no sounds, no atttact lights, not even GI ( does it even have GI?). the fluorescent light came on , and you could hear the fans. about right side half the led's on the driver board lit, including the 5v. the left half of the leds were out. no health led lit. he doesnt want it.the upper computer cabinet button was pushed in, and the right top corner of that metal cabinet had an led lit. i dont know if i want it. i tend not to like DMD games , i like 60, 70 ems, and a decent amount of 80's SS .
i'm thinking of buying it just for the fun of getting it up and running, then playing it, but whats the point if its going to be expensive to fix. cosmetically , its very nice, clean. i'd like to offer him what i could get for it if i buy it and decide to bail on it. i know next to nothing about pin 2000, but what the hell, i'll learn. i just dont want to get into a money pit, and also, is it fun??? if its not fun, then there is not much point. what should i offer him for it?

thanks
mike

If its complete but completely dead, cabinet and playfield in good shape anywhere from 600.00 to 1,200.00 depends on how bad you want it, one just sold on Ebay that was missing the monitor and the computer and some other parts and it brought 760.00

If he knows nothing about it, offer him $500. If you can get it for that and realize you're in over your head, you will have no problem unloading it.

It's a fun pin. And about as different from and EM (in every way) as you can get. Fixing it can get pricey depending on whats going on. Strange there is no monitor power...dumb question but did you check all the fuses?

Definitely pick it up, but ask him what he paid for the storage unit and offer him half of it for just the pin!!! Forget paying what they go for price. He doesn't know a thing about it and doesn't want to deal with it. If he gets half his money he paid for the unit, he will be happy!!

RFM is one of the best pinball games ever made. It's a shame it doesn't get more love on IPDB but it's definitely worth it. The nice thing about it is, even if it has problems with the system boards, you can upgrade to the Nucore system and make it even better than new.

And while going the Nucore route would be very expensive, if you can get the machine for cheap, then you'd still come out a major winner.

I say go for it!

(The game is fantastic, by the way.)
