Hello KLOV! Thought about introducing myself to everyone since I'm on here lurking everyday. I'd like to get more involved in posting here and get to know some of you. Talking to family and friends about my games is limited to just them playing or asking if I own a specific game (Usually Ms. Pac or Centipede lol) which gets boring. I'd rather talk to all of you fine people and learn a thing or two more about these arcade games! I started collecting about 6 years and what began as a expensive ebay purchase (my Galaga) turned into an obsession. Thanks to the KLOV forums, I've learned everything from cap kit installations to board repairs. I'm pretty good at repairing anything electronic on these games but suck at restoring cabinets. I am more than happy to help if you ask and even drop on by if you're local. I've gone to every CAX show since 2004 and hopefully I can get to know some of you before then. Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Steve

BTW: Here are some pics of my new projects. The Donkey Kong has been capped and fully working. Just needs some cosmetics. The Tron is not working and will probably need the monitor capped and the power supply rebuilt. Get ready for all my questions to get this working!!!

Keep us updated on that Tron!

I think I remember you.. by that avatar.

Welcome! Wow, that's impressive that you've been to every CAX since 2004. Nice collection (going by your sig). Do you have a Tron fund started already for the nice but expensive artwork package? ;)

Thanks for the love on the Tron guys! I've been working on it since I picked it up on Sunday. While I'm waiting for my parts from Bob Roberts, I got the bright idea to start my first cabinet restoration. The side art had been painted over on both sides and headed to the local Home Depot to pickup some Citristrip. Bad idea if you want to save the art but it does make taking off paint and side art stickers easy! I've seen the art packages and movie version marquees so I know this will probably be the most expensive to restore. Hopefully I can get this thing up and running before CAX this year and bring it down. I couldn't get to play Tron last year since somebody was always on it!!!

It's nice to see another local guy!

It's funny you say that you're great at electronics, but not very good at restoring cabinets. I'm pretty much the complete opposite. Maybe we'll end up helping each other out someday.

Look forward to meeting you at CAX. I'm assuming you're going again this year. Bringing any games? :)

My odd curiousity, whenever folks introduce themselves is...

How old are ya man?

The reason I ask is because you have a fair mix of Capcom in there with your classics. I'm much the same way. MASSIVE SFII fan but I have a pure focus on GA classics in my gameroom. So I'm wondering if you're a younger cat, such as myself.

Not gonna lie, some of KLOV are some serious vets of gaming and it's reflected in their collections.

Hell, I'll still be on KLOV when I'm wicked old...

Maybe I'm wrong, but I would assume any gamers that have a good selection of silver age Capcom games grew up (middle school thru college years) in the late 80s and early 90s. I don't know if there are any "older" guys that like SF or any game like it. None that I've met anyways.

I'm 27 and I appreciate and enjoy the classics, but I also love games from my youth like SFII, X-Men, TMNT, Willow, Neo Geo games, etc. So getting a couple of those games in my collection has been awesome. And I second your point, I'll still be on KLOV when I'm old. :)

Nice to see another BA/Nor Cal guy... i've yet to go to a CAX. Probably this year will be my first. I'm only 5 miles away from there also.
I've gone to 12 E3s although...

Being an older guy I also find that my core formative games were in those silver age 16-32bit (pre-3D) games. I played classics back in the day but had more money to spend later on in college etc... I can't begin to imagine how much money I dumped into SF2:WW-HF.

Thanks for the warm welcome people. It's so cool to hear from all of you especially the ones that have dedicated sites. I'm truly impressed with everyone's collection here on KLOV and I hope I can keep up with you all!

I'll get some pictures of my arcade tonight when I get home from work.

Steve
