I didn't want to hijack Shar's Comet post with the difficulties I'm having with my Comet so I'll start my own issue I'm having.

What it comes down to I have F2, solenoids, keeps blowing everytime I press the start button. I've checked every single coil in that game including the ones in the coin door. Checked all the transistors on the mpu board-found one bad tip 122. Unfortunately, it wasn't the issue. I had some problems with the "firework" flashers in the backbox. In particular, the flasher for player 1....There are 2 ceramic resistors under each flasher. One is a 5 ohm and the other is a 300 ohm. Well I metered them up; one checked 5 exactly and the other was 150. Huh, unsoldered it and then it checked out 300 again. Is there a problem with the socket? Could a shorted flasher socket which are solenoid controlled be blowing this fuse?

I doubt the socket is your problem. It is more likely that you have a shorted solenoid. Starting a game activates the solenoid circuit and the shorted solenoid is popping the breaker.

I'd start by checking out the solenoid associated with the TIP 122 you replaced.

Check the TIP122 you just put in. There is a chance it's blown again if you do find the coil to be an issue.
