Since guys have been sharing pics and vids of their game rooms, I thought I'd share a short video of mine. It's not much to brag about and it's still a work in progress, but I hope to add some more elements to it once my projects are finished.

Sorry if it's hard to hear me. The A/V quality got downsized and I also have pretty bad allergies. :(

Enjoy!

Hey Jess,

I really dig your arcade. Matter of fact, your nintendo collection was the inspiration for me to find my DK. Just wished it looked as clean as yours but definitely gotta hit you up on some pointers for the cabinet restoration once I get my other projects done.

Steve

nice little collection, you need to ditch the nes and get a playchoice in there

I've decided against a PC-10. Given my space and budget, it's not practical for me to buy a coin-operated NES with a limited game library (expensive games at that). Though, I do plan on getting an empty Nintendo cab (or building a 3/4 size) to house the NES eventually. For now, SFII will go in that spot when I'm finished restoring it and the NES will be moved elsewhere. I still have some rearranging to do.

Like your stuff -- especially the Star Wars posters!

Yeah, like I said in the video, they are the "special edition" posters so not as awesome as the original theatrical posters, but they look pretty good framed. I plan on putting full-size framed posters of The Goonies and Raiders of the Lost Ark on the other wall.

Contact me anytime! I'd love to help out in any way that I can. It's the KLOV way to help the guy next to you. :)

Thanks for all the nice comments fellas!

Kjeffrey, I've decided against a PC-10. Given my space and budget, it's not practical for me to buy a cab that is just an NES on a timer with a limited game library (expensive games at that). I can play any NES game with my current setup. Though, I do plan on getting an empty Nintendo cab (or building a 3/4 size) to house the NES eventually. For now, SFII will go in that spot when I'm finished restoring it and the NES will be moved elsewhere. I still have some rearranging to do.

Scubasteve, contact me anytime! I'd love to help out however I can. It's the KLOV way to help the guy next to you. :)

Have you ever heard about the counter top PC-10? I thought it's a cool compact system. I'd never get a full upright pc-10 myself personally.

Ether way nice little game room you got there. Much more organized than mine! :)

Very nice collection Jess.

Thanks Richard! Probably not as nice as yours I'm sure. So did you decide if you're bringing any games to CAX? :D

Yeah, I agree. The PC-10 countertop is very cool and solves the space issue. But I've only seen them pop up a few times for quite a bit of money. It's still not practical for me to spend that much on a coin-operated NES when I have a perfectly good NES already (and more games). If I ever come across the actual measurements and specs to the PC-10 countertop, I'd consider building a custom cab like that for my NES. But still no luck finding those specs.

As I mentioned, I think running an NES in a Nintendo cab with a Vs. CP wired to it would work just fine and make the most sense. It would run actual Nintendo hardware on a CRT monitor and the game library would be cheap and endless (A Playchoice X as Gozer would say). It would be better than a PC-10 IMO. No offense to the PC-10 guys as I know a lot of them want to have the original PC-10 cab for nostalgic reasons. No wrong in that. Some also collect the PC-10 titles for the same reasons some feel the need to collect all the Vs. titles. They don't do it because they love all the games, they do it for the hunt and the fulfillment of collecting all of them.

Sorry for my long opinion about the PC-10. But I've received the questions "How come you don't have a PC-10?" or "Are you going to get a PC-10?" a lot and this is always my answer. :)

A very educated statement.

I like that PlayerChoice-X idea. I might just make my own custom counter top "PC-X".

Thank you, very much, for sharing.

Nice game room. Love the nintendo sign. I have one of those Mario peg things too! A former co-worker gave it to me. It's sitting on my desk at work. :)

nice too see the younger collectors with the older games. How old are you ? I'm guessing now early 20's?

nice little game room there!

Don't you know not to say Playchoice to him!!!

Actually both of us have talked about building 3/4 sized arcade bodies to house NES machines.
I have the DK plans and will either make it a MB WB or a DK body but at 3/4 size for my 4 year olds. I even have the 13" trinitron ready for it.

Nice video Jess!

Thanks! I'm 27. So I guess I still fall under the "younger collectors" category since I grew up in the late 80s and early 90s. Though, I have two older brothers that grew up in the late 70s and through the 80s, so they definitely had a huge influence on me. That's the reason I'm a Nintendo fanboy. As far back as I can remember, I watched them play Nintendo until I was old enough to actually play it myself. I remember loving every moment. My older brother taught me all of the codes that he picked up from his Nintendo Power subscription (before the internet) and he walked me through all kinds of games like Contra, Zelda, Metroid, Double Dragon, etc. If the games were co-op, he'd take the lead. When my little brother was old enough, I did the same for him. Good times.

So to end my ramble, yes, I'm young and I love the arcade games from my silver age youth, but I also appreciate the classics and have come to love many of them. Hopefully, when we eventually move to a bigger place and I get a dedicated game room, there will be room for more. :)

Nice game room and nice video!

Any idea where to get some of those pixel characters here in the states? I followed the link in your video but I can't seem to find any English sites with them.

Thanks for sharing the video! :beerchug:

Thanks Jeff!

Actually, I don't think they sell them here in the states unless you find some Japanese Toy/Game retailer that may carry them. We have a few of those around. I got mine on ebay from a Japanese retailer overseas, so that would be your best bet. Search ".S Nintendo" "Dot Nintendo" or something of that nature.

I just searched now and there is someone in New Jersey selling the Balloon Fight and Ice Climber versions of them for about $20 shipped each:

I ordered Balloon Fight to put on my red tent. :D

Very nice collection! Your layout reminds me of my own. Love the blacklight lamp and the Zelda standee. I've got a bunch of standees in the cade but not that one. Awesome!

Cool Jess, those games are looking good. Glad to see you've got more projects in the works.
I'll be looking for the red tent at CaX, hopefully the MB WB too.

What a fun gameroom eseyo! Hearing the X-men in the background is sweeeeeeeeet. Once the SF2 goes in there, you'll have a really well balanced bunch of games to choose from.

I really dig those japanese peg art things.

Jess, I love your game room! What a happy place you have created for yourself. :) Your games are gorgeous, great work. Can't wait to see the W I D E B O D Y in the row!

I really like that Phantom Hourglass standee. I actually kind of like Windwaker Link the best, what a cool piece.
