Most pinballs I have played have something in effect so that if your ball drains real early it will launch again, because it feels bad about how pathetic you are. I am not even close to a pinball expert, but it just seems like kind of a standard feature.

My Star Wars Data East does not seem to have this at all. I did a factory restore and it is on Free Play, am I missing something or is Vader just cruel?

Btw, Shoot Again! sounds like an awesome name for a pinball newsletter or something.

the short answer: there is no ball save in star wars. you drain, you drain....no matter when.

i've seen it rumored that there's a "point based" ball save of sorts, but it's a one in a million type thing.....supposedly, if the launcher fails to strike the ball hard enough to make it all the way around the right orbit and it comes straight back down and center drains, the game will award you a ball save. the odds of that happening are way up there.

As pudluther explained, the ball save on DE SW is pretty much worthless as it will only kick in if the ball drains and nothing has been triggered. Almost all launched balls go through R2D2, which means a switch is triggered, which means the ball saver won't do anything. A timed save feature is much nicer since it gives you more control.

Hilarious! I love it.

Thanks for the info guys, I am relieved to know the pin is working as intended. I think once I score a bobba fett plastic I am pretty much done with repairs for a while.

I have scans of the BF plastic, and I'm cleaning up the BF image to print and make my own piece. PM me your email address and I'll send the files to you if you are interested.

I was wondering the same thing. Picked one up from Chuck at CP Pinball recently after not playing it in years. Thought I was just being punished for sucking so bad. Good to know that it is in the game design. Also have brand new BF plastic that I just replaced if you need a image.

You guys talk about having these scans? What are you doing with them? Can someone clue me in? Does Kinko's print pinball plastics or something?

You cut a piece of Lexan (polycarbonate) to the shape you want, print the artwork on glossy paper, then attach it to the underside. You then have your own plastic that usually looks very good if done correctly. It is good for 1) cheapskates :D 2) plastics that haven't been reproduced or are hard to find.

The ball save on DE SW is called FREEZE. If you don't hit any switches and the ball drains, you get a DMD animation of Han Solo frozen in carbonite. Pretty hard to get since 99.9% of the time you will hit a switch but if you really want to see it, pull the glass off and drain the ball by hand. LOL
