I just bought a MK2 and my son told me he would clean it. He cleaned the CP and srceen and I told him he could plug it in and see if it worked. He can running in the house and told me it was working, grapped some quarters and started playing. I figured after he ran out of quarters I would have to drill the locks so he could add credits, and of course he ran out of quarters and asks if I will drill the locks so he can play some more. Of course I drill them and open it for him to play. As the days go on he keeps going back from the barn and house. I figure I'll go out and check it out. In the matter of a couple of hours he has figured out how to set it on free play and set it to easy, without any help from me, he just turned 12 in Dec. If this keeps going he will be showing me how to fix them. Maybe I should put him on the Neo Geo and see if he gets it working.

You ever see that comedian tell the joke about the old guy in the apple store looking for type writer ribbon "and the ironic thing is the only place you can find it is on the internet"

Kids now a days are very tech savy

Nope! :) I've done lots of cleaning here. Have you seen my restored Atari 2600s?

I'm sorry if it offends you to ask this. But how do you exactly, "restore" your home consoles? Do they really even get that abused?

Better yet, if you have some pictures (in the console section) that would be great.

They definitely get abused. You'd be surprised what I've brought home. They definitely, however, don't take nearly as much effort to clean up and make pristine again versus arcades/pinballs.

Doesn't mean that if someone does a good job, they shouldn't get their pat on the back. :p

There are pics on my thread.

They are really abused. They all look as if they were buried.
I clean them, polish them, buff and polish the switches, replace cables, scrape the crap out of the RF port, scrub the boards with alchohol, oil the switch mechanisms, resocket chips, replace necessary switches, and resolder parts if needed.
