Here's how to pack glass so it arrives in one piece. Thanks Les Manley!

considering that shippers recommend 3" of protection, I would say it was an average job... If you were to file a claim, more than likely it would be denied.
That would be a good job if that was an inner box and that was all placed in a larger box...

Unless your running into some dimensional weight restrictions, shipping it in a slightly larger box will not effect the shipping price. the added weight of a 2nd box and some packing material would not much..

Glad it made it to you, after your last one someone sent you got there in pieces. I boxed it, wrapped it, the used stryofoam on it vertically. Then wrapped it again, the used styrofoam on it horizontally added some more protection. Then wrapped and taped it again. Then finally boxed it up and taped again. I had never shipped glass before, but I made sure to get this one right. Hope it makes your Tempest complete!

Is that the knife that has a compass on the end and that unscrews to put things in the handle? I had one of those when i was a kid! Too cool! PEACE!!

Yep, Picked it up sometime back in the 80's at the San Jose flea market for something like $5.

Would that be the Berryessa flea market or the capitol flea market.
I went to the Berryessa flea market about a year ago and it really sucks now.
We used to go most weekends in the summer back in the late 60's.
I used to pick stuff up at the novelty booths.
I remember one time I bought one of those giant cigars and my Dad wasn't too happy and said "I should make you smoke that whole thing".
We always had to get knockers,as we called them, those resin balls on string that you get going back and forth till they smack you in the arm,if you were lucky.
