I have a guy that can use my arcade monitor a lot more than I can at the moment. Does anyone have any tips for shipping a monitor to someone?

I checked USPS and they said they don't go above 70lbs, so any pointers at would be helpful.

Thanks!

I have never actually shipped one, yet. But being in the shipping business, if I were to, I would double box it with lots bubble wrap and that foam "popcorn" inner box being a couple inches smaller than the outer box. Or line the outer box with 2" styrofoam, something that will absorb some shock.

Cool, what company would be the best to use to ship it? Fedex?

I have honestly never shipped anything this big or heavy before.

I shipped a 19" Sanyo EZ by assembling a frame made of 1x1's and bolting the monitor to the frame. Then padded it with an old comforter. Added a little weight but made it there in one piece. Whatever you do you don't want there to be any wiggle room inside and the box should be heavy duty or double walled.

I've had three used monitors shipped to me and it ran about $35-$40 for shipping each about 3-4 years ago. I was very lucky the tubes did not arrive broken, they just threw them inside and added peanuts. When monitors are shipped around you always take a chance, less of a chance if they are shipped in official boxes designed for arcade monitors.

Try shipping FedEx Ground. They've been consistently the cheapest for things of this size in my experience. Also, they haven't broken my stuff the way UPS seems to every time (I'm sure there are bad stories for every shipper, so YMMV)
