Hi all,

I have seem many threads on KLOV with people looking for info on the EM-201. Many of these thread are fairly old so I'm starting a new one!

It appears that this is a pretty obscure monitor. Unfortunately, it's the only one I've got and I would like to get it working better then it is not. It works fairly well with the exception of a broken width coil. The coil is active but the plastic coil form and the ferrite adjustment slug are missing. The lack of adjustment is an issue for being able to stretch the image enough to fill the monitor. I would love to be able to purchase a new width coil... and while I'm at it a cap kit!

I see from an old thread the Bob Roberts used to sell an EM-201 cap kit but his site no longer lists one for sale.

Does anyone have any leads from whom I can purchase a width coil and/or cap kit for this monitor?

Thanks!
Larry

there is a near zero chance of finding a width coil loose in the wild. Best bet would be to rewind it on a new coil form.
As for cap kit, just message bob and see if he still does the kit.
If not, I have the schematics for it and can pull a list from there.

I have a Bob Cap Kit that I can't use - turns out the EM201 in my cabinet had the chassis replaced with a generic one. Pay postage and it's yours... PM me.

Speaking of width coils...

Ian,

A friend gave me an Electrohome width coil. Any chance that it would work in my EM-201? Is there a chance I could blow up my video board if I use it? If not, do you know of a source for a new coil form?

I just picked up a Mr. Do! Upright, converted cab, and the monitor is nothing I've seen before. The manual says "Eastern Micro Electronics Model: EM 201 19" In-Line Color Monitor".

Is this the same monitor as this Shinlee EM 201? I want to make sure I get the right cap kit and whatever other parts I can find. The picture is a smaller square, out of focus picture, but enough movement and full sound shows boardset is likely working fine. A small amount of smoke started wafting up along the tube after about 5-10 minutes being on. I'm starting with cap kit. There was some minor arcing type noise when first on so maybe a flyback needed as well.

I see no where on this monitor or manual that it says Shinlee or any other manufacturer than Eastern Micro. So this is the same?

Eastern Micro Electronics model EM-201 is the shinlee em201

I have a chassis if anyone needs one. Ceramic resistor crumbled after cap kit. would be a parts chassis. Pm me if you need a part.

Possibly interested, PM sent.

I recapped mine and the black plastic around width cool disintegrated. Had a image for a bit after adjustments, but tilted, out of focus, too small, etc.
